COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Ohio State coach Jim Tressel said Tuesday that running back Chris "Beanie" Wells will play in Saturday's game against top-ranked USC after missing last week's game with an injury to his right big toe.
How much Wells plays largely depends on his progress in practices Tuesday and Wednesday. Wells will run and go through individual drills Tuesday before participating fully in Wednesday's workout.
"He probably ran better than I thought he might [on Monday]," Tressel said.
Wells has been testing the foot/toe on a stationary bike and in the pool. He's listed as the starter on this week's depth chart ahead of Dan "Boom" Herron, who received the bulk of the carries this past week.

God i hope the Bucks show up this week. Last week was atrocious. Get ‘em ready Tress!
It’s going to be a long night for the funny hat dudes....
Oh please, please, please may Ohio State win!!!
“O-H!”
Go Buckeyes!!!! Please do not show up like you did this past week. PLEASE!!
I-O!
Go Trojans! Class of ‘91
The amount of pre-game smack talk before these Ohio State games against top teams has diminished from full-on in-your-face smack talk (against U of M in 2006) to a mere, ‘man, we better show up’ now.
I know I’ve kept it fully under wraps after 2 NC game debacles (altho, the FLA game in 2006 was the worst)
Gonna be a great weekend of football. OSU-USC Saturday night, and Browns-Steelers on Sunday night. Hopefully I’ll be in a good mood Monday morning.
Great nickname “Beanie” - what is the story behind that?
They better bring some game!
Amazing that a game in week 3 of the regular college season is easily the most critical dealing with National Championship/BCS ramifications. This is a bowl game in itself.
Tell me I am wrong, but Tressell ran scripted plays all the way to the end of the third quarter.
Here is my case - Boeckman ran the football almost every play, that is why he did not score a touchdown. He needs to throw the ball to spread out his game.
Likewise, Pryor was strickly throwing the ball and limited his running attack.
Last week’s game was designed to give the university of spoiled children nothing to prepare for.
Go Bucks!
Go Bucks!
I have had this theory about Tressell and his early season light competition since his third year as coach. IMO he designs these game plans to work as glorified scrimmages and deliberately disguises his team’s strengths. When they need to kick in the afterburners late, they leave the opponents in the dust.
He had a small head when little i think.
