You're correct. The haloed one is a sociopathic cypher, abandoned by both parents and unable to make real connections with people. Think of the character in that TV show a few years back, The Pretender or the real life of Waldo de le Marra thr great imposter.

Also I believe he suffers from an adult form of ADHD and often loses focus and concentration unless he is able to kep himself tightly disciplined. When confronted with a stressful situation he loses focus says dumb or incoherent things and stumbles into trite phrases like"let's not play games" as a substitute for discourse.
