Bump
And as usual the NOW gang is silent.
This one gets to me. I mean, we still have some of the old types of submarines which fire torpedos and sink ships; what the hell’s wrong with simply stationing two or three of those offshore of Sudan and letting those idiots know that any ship trying to load oil there will be SUNK until the persecution of Christians in Darfur stops?
truly evil
There's no persecution of Christians in Darfar, it's a north / south tribal problem. That's what the MSM is telling us, so it must be true.
Besides, gang rape is a Islamic cultural issue, who are we to interfere with local customs and project our cultural morals on these people and force it upon them. Those innocent christian girls are infidels and should have reverted to Islam
( vomit projectile sarcasm )
What the hell are we paying taxes to the government of a supposedly Christian nation for if this **** is going to go unpunished and not even challenged?
Looked at a map lately?
The MSM happens to be (approximately) right in this case.
There are very few Christians in Darfur. The victims in this genocide are just as Muslim as the perps. The difference between them is that the people of Darfur are racially and culturally black African (negroid, in the old un-PC terminology), while the attackers are culturally and perhaps racially Arab.
Many people mix up the 20+ year civil war of southern Sudan, which is largely although not exclusively Christian, against the Muslim north with the conflict in Darfur.
Darfur is in the west of Sudan, not the south. It's quite likely that many Darfurians (Darfurites?) were themselves gleeful participants in the slave raids on the southern Christians.
The Arab Sudanese a mix of Arabs originally from the peninsula (Najdis & Hijazis) & of Nubians & Funj people. However, the other Nubians (those who have not been absorbed into the Arab Sudanese tribes) call themselves Arab only to mean native Arabic speakers, & consider themselves racially & culturally Nubian. The non-absorbed Funj people also mean Arab only as native Arabic speaker. Racially they consider themselves Africans.
Thanks for the clarification. While I’m no expert on the ethnic/tribal rivalries of Sudan, I’m aware they don’t always fall into neat racial or linguistic categories that Americans understand.
Topic from August.
Would it be only the Arabs, Muslims w/o China’s interest in the oil...
True, the 2 Million victims prevously were because of Muslims vs Christians but the current is pure Arab racism vs Blacks!
NOW is an organization of liberal women and lesbians. They have as much in common with everyday American women as a fish has with a bicycle...
Nothing particularly pure about it. There was a song in the musical Oklahoma about the farmer and the cowman being friends, but it was meant sarcasticly.
The aggressors in this case are pastoralists, while the victims are primarily farmers. This is a pattern that goes waaaay back in history. There is not necessarily anything particularly religious or racist about it.
Neither am I, it’s the Arab country that I know least about really.
Apparently, there is a racial issue in Sudan, but so far all the Sudanese I have asked about this (Nubian, Arab, & African) deny that it is a major factor in this conflict.
As for the racial & linguistic categories, to make matters more complicated, Nubians come in all colors, those identifying as Arabs are frequently as dark as the Africans, & people will tell you that they are Arab one minute & then African the next (or both), depending on how they interpret your question. I asked which cultural category do Sudanese Jews identify themselves as. “The Jews are Arabs” flows so naturally from them, while to Western ears that’s a confusing & startling statement, heh!
Thanks for your response. It just validates my suspicion that the categories in this conflict don’t fit into the “normal” American/Western paradigms.
