Thanks again for this document.
So I know this conversation is a few weeks old, but I came across it and thought it worth commenting on.
I'm a Christian, yet I agree with you in part. I think the doomsaying for the past 2000 years has done significant harm to the credibility of Christians, and by unfortunate extension the credibility of the Bible. It will continue to do so as long as Christians misunderstand Biblical prophecy.
Some people have been convinced that Jesus was not the Son of God because of his comment in Matthew 24 (and elsewhere) that "the end" would come within the generation to which he was speaking. Since the end obviously did not come, Jesus was wrong, and therefore must not be the Son of God.
But what if Jesus was right? What if "the end" of which he spoke did in fact come within that generation?
I believe it did. The "end" he spoke about - the same "end" spoken of in Daniel, in Revelation, in Thessalonians, and the "end" anticipated and thought to be imminent by the New Testament writers - was not to be the end of the physical world, or the end of civilization. It was the end of the Old Covenant, of the old nature of the relationship between God and humanity; the old "Heaven and Earth" spoken of in Revelation. It was being replaced by the "New Heaven and New Earth," the "New Jerusalem," the "kingdom of God" - the New Covenant.
So when did this happen? Well, of course it started with the birth, life, death, and resurrection of Christ. The transition continued with Christ's ascension and the coming of the Holy Spirit. And it was during this interim period that the New Testament was written, with the expectation of the end of the transition within the writers' lifetimes.
The completion of the transition occurred during and around the year of 70AD with the siege and ultimate destruction of Jerusalem by the Roman army. The temple was defiled, the streets ran red with blood, and a great many people died. Most importantly, the Jewish system of sacrifices in the Temple - the core of the Old Covenant - ended for good at that time. The Covenant - God's relationship with mankind - passed away forever, and was replaced by the New Covenant in Christ. This was the "end" spoken of throughout the Scriptures; there is no "end" yet to come for the world, at least as far as Biblical prophecy is concerned. The "end" has come, and we are in it.
I wish I would have read this back in September. Maybe I would have moved my money out of the market earlier than I did.
But again - a repeat (and repost) of this old chestnut of an email... please. The economy is tanking. And Obama is a power-hungry Socialist... If he becomes our official dictator in charge... well, it isn't because this email was “correct”...
Simply installing a wood burning stove in an RV isn’t good enough for me. I’m looking for an adapt kit and hooking a winnebago onto a stanley steamer frame. Please let me know if you find one.
Why was I pinged to that page of crap?
—Why was I pinged to that page of crap?—
Two reasons. I thought the OP would find it interesting that the thread was being talked about at another site and you are the OP.
I pinged the OP of every thread that was referenced on that site, strictly as a courtesy. Do with the information what you will.
