Years ago we drove down to FL on 95 in a moving truck. Had no box for the cat, but he was sleeping fine in the middle. At 1am, he suddenly decided to jump up and dig his claws into the leg of the driver.
We ended up in a ditch. Forever more he was the cat the threw the truck off the road.

No, you can’t has seatbelt. Claws work just fine. For maximum effect, embed them in the driver's leg.
