Vanity - Palin should challenge Obama to a Debate

Posted on 09/01/2008 6:47:55 PM PDT by Rodney Dangerfield

Excuse my ignorance, but I'm not sure how to post here but Newt just made a great point, and that is Palin should challenge Obama to a debate.

Of course, Obama would decline, the MSM would call it a stunt, but it would bloody Obama even more and make him appear even weaker.

Not a great idea because Sarah isn’t the best debator. That’s actually a plus with Biden who will go into bulldog mode and make himself look like an ogre, leaving her looking even better. Obama won’t get nasty the way Biden will.

Yeah, I gave gave credit to Newt in my original post.

Every time Bambi says Palin isn’t qualified, she should suggest a debate between her and him.

It would silence him faster then a broken teleprompter.

I fully agree, and I think she should throw down the gauntlet in her acceptance speech at the convention;

Senator Obama has suggested that I am unqualified to serve as vice president. If, in fact, Senator Obama has any real qualms about my readiness to ably fulfill all the duties with which a vice president may be expected to be confronted, then I challenge him before all America to a debate at a time and place of his choosing on the subject of qualifications and experience. Not a debate in place of his debate with Senator McCain or in place of my debate with Senator Biden, but a unique debate to settle an important issue.

A thorough comparison of our political credentials in the open air of a nationally televised exchange should prove not only interesting and informative, and I long to have the pleasure of just such an opportunity to let the people themselves decide — without surrogates and without teleprompters or slick advertisements — who is best qualified to serve in the offices for which he and I are running.

And those of you in the media who think I am not up to the job, why don’t you join me in asking Senator Obama to meet me face to face, so that a free and fair discussion can take place and all pertinent questions about qualifications and experience can be asked and answered once and for all? I think that’s only fair and appropriately democratic. Let the people decide, Senator Obama!

Note to Sarah: You have my permission to use the above lines without attribution.

Note to Senator Biden: I’d love for you to use it — as is!

No need to. Palin's very presence on the ticket already won the debate.

This is easy... debate #2... McCain claims a hoarse voice... sends in Palin right after the introductory 90 seconds.

Yes, prevaricating, excuse-making, deflecting responsibility and taking offense. Obama could win his own mini-olympics if just the right events were chosen!

Remember Obama was “calling out McCain” like a gunslinger at the Barakopolis.

I went to Office Depot today...They had a sale on DVDs...You know stuff that no one wants...2 for 1? In this discount bin was John McCain’s life story.. Faith of My Father....

I watched this and thought...My God, we do not know this man. We have no clue...yet we all need to learn from him.

Go to Office Deport tomorrow and buy the DVD... 9 dollars for two...Watch it and pass it on....

I’m sick to death at the small people still on this forum who continue to bad mouth McCain...I’ve come around... He’s a great American and we should be all proud that he is our candidate...

I have 60 days to promote this man...I’m tired of hearing the negatives from the bloggers here....You know who they are...

Let’s work to get our ticket elected...

Thank you for your welcome!

I was a member years ago under a name I’ve forgotten and before that a very ardent and active Republican conservative. In the intervening years, however, I became quite disillusioned with most of the prominent party leaders and lost nearly all interest in politics.

That is, until John McCain — for whom I would have only voted with the greatest reluctance — surprised me and chose Sarah Palin as his running mate. I even made a donation to the campaign and once again see hope that maybe the Republican Party isn’t just another “me-too” party after all.

Thanks again for your warm welcome.

Newt did not say Palin should challenge Obama to a debate.
Please get your facts right, this kind of comment gets all spread around.

Newt said he would like to see a debate between Palin and Obama. It was a wishful thinking comment because VP candidates do not debate the Pres candidates.

That’s not the point. You’re arguing semantics and nitpicking.

Palin should challenge Obama when his camp starts with the “She’s not qualified” talk. He would either have to put up or shut up, or claim it’s a political stunt.

Either way, he would look bad by not debating her.

Is there a law that prohibits it?

Unless there is, she should challenge him to a debate to shut him up and make him look stupid.

against protocol, however it will be palin who pummels obama in the news in the coming weeks. Hillary will be sent out to counter.
