LONDON : As a dead man, Ahmad Akhtary shouldn't have needed a doctor's appointment.

Akhtary's checkup, six months after he allegedly died in Afghanistan, scuttled his ex-wife's attempt to collect 300,000 pounds (US$550,000) on a life insurance policy.

Hmmm....He died in Afghanistan? Was he there as a member of the British military - or was he a MUSLIM, and his wife trying to get money for his death.

Nationalize Health Care, even dead people can get healthy. Why not try it (Nationalized health care) in Chicago, since dead people are ACTIVE in that city. :-)

Was he even in Afghanistan? If he was, how did he get back into GB without a record of the re-entry? Illegal immigration, pourous borders and the total refusal of Western Governments to enforce immigration laws cost the citizens of those countries in so many ways.

Old scam used a lot in the U.S. Aliens come to U.S. and take out life insurance on spouse. Spouse returns to the “old country” and, alas, dies in an accident but body has to be buried there. Surviving spouse has a death certificate and collects the money. If the insurance company drags their feet they can be sued for acting in bad faith so they cut the check and move on.
Doesn’t work every time but often enough to make it profitable, I guess.
