Sounds interesting. Are they going to still start on time?

YES! YES! YES!
A telethon to raise funds for those in the path of Hurricanes Gustav and Hannah!
GREAT THINKING, RNC!
P.S. I bought a 6-pack of Smirnoff Ice Light today and I’m soooooo looking forward to this convention!

If true, brilliant.
Instead of the Dem’s “bread and circuses” fiasco, it’ll be food and bottled water for suffering Americans.
Cool....:)

I never liked the McCain camp, but if that’s their plan, it’s genius.

I know it wont matter what the RNC will do, the left will accuse them of trying to benefit from it.
But I like the idea.

Hurricane telethon for the unfortunate is a good idea.
To: GOPinCa
Its a nice thought, but the beneficiaries in NO and their fans know nor show gratitude.

We hold a fund raiser for storm victims while they indulged themselves with fireworks, Greek columns and Hollywood celebrities.
LOL!
The best part is the number of libs who were keeping their fingers crossed for a hurricane to disrupt the convention! Looks like they're going to get their wish, though the outcome might be a little different than what they were hoping for.

What a coup if the Republicans could somehow appeal to the
common sense of the American people by pointing out the excesses and waste of the spectacle last week in Denver by contrasting it with a much simpler Convention that would concentrate dollars on helping real people in a real hurricane.
Last week's Hollywood and DNC waste on "smoke and mirrors" to promote a smoke and mirrors pair of candidates whose only promise is an illusory "change" cannot compare with the real change that ordinary people could see by such a move!
The brave souls who adopted our Declaration of Independence and framed America's Constitution did not promise a government that would do everything for us, but they did perform a miracle which freed ordinary men and women from government tyranny, enabling them to transform the wilderness and become a beacon of liberty for all the world.
The time to reassert their genius is now. Let's have real change! Enough of the glitz and silliness, already.

As soon as the winds die down in New Orleans, McCain and Palin need to be seen widespread in the area offering assistance in any way possible. I realize this is a secret service nightmare but it needs to be down. The media stigma of Katrina needs to be erased and this is great way to get that done.

You can take it to the bank that Nagin is chomping at the bit to get all over Bush when those people have no home/place to go back to.
So we can get them out of there in an orderly fashion...but what becomes of them after that is going to be our night mare.
We can't catch a break.

I see no reason to dump more dollars into N.O. It makes absolutely no sense.
Making a political event into a fund-raiser for known mismanagement would be a stupid move. With momentum on the side of the republican party, postponment due to any reason would be like "stopping the elephant in its' tracks."
