FR Gun Club - Gun Porn - Revolvers
August 29, 2008 | Shooter 2.5

I was going to have another topic today but since Palin is McCain's running mate, I thought we would be too busy discussing that.

Ok, gun porn. Show us your revolvers. I was at an IDPA match a couple of weeks ago and this guy challenged me to using a revolver instead of my favorite, a 1911. So this is the picture of my next project. Getting this beauty ready for next month's match. The guy is going to kick my butt no matter how hard I try. It's still going to be fun.

Sarah Palin could out shoot me with short or long gun.

http://www.horstheld.com/default.htm

a very heavy six-shot-volley-pistol “one hammer releases
all six shots”, cal. circa .34 percussion, the barrel
cluster and system are mottled brown, the grip is plain.
After cocking the hammer, pushing the front trigger and
pulling the center pin the 5” barrel cluster can be pushed
from left to right out of the frame for loading/unloading.
There is no maker's name, no proof stamp (therefore not
Belgian or British made).
It appears to be a simple forerunner of the French Jarre
harmonica pistol.
Made during the high days of percussion ignition during
the 1850 - 1860s period.
One can call it a prototype, in good working order and
fine condition $5,000.

Oh man, I wish I had my photo/posting stuff sorted out, I got around 20 S&Ws in the safe I’d love to share. I do like the 686 though, mine has the 3” barrel.

E. H. COLLIER, Nov. 24, 1818 patented flintlock-revolver,
5-shot, gas-sealed, hand-revolved.
According to Sutherland's book Sam Colt bought
one in London, and he developed out of this model
the single action system = by cocking the hammer
the cylinder turns.

I’m taking pictures of every gun I own and then using the serial number as the file name. I thought it was time to take an inventory.

OK Here are some of mine:

First one is a Colt Magnum Carry. I bought this piece brand new in 1999 (the only year it was made) for just under $400. I put 50 rounds through it before Colt announced that they were out of the double action revolver business (they have since returned to their senses). You can't get one in this condition now for under $1200.

The next piece used to be a .44MAG Ruger Redhawk, but since I can never leave anything alone, and just had to have the meanest and loudest hand-cannon, it went to Hamilton Bowen (Bowen Classic Arms) for conversion to a 5-shot .475 Linebaugh. This piece is half the weight of the smallest S&W 500 and launches a 400gr bullet at over 1400FPS. It has taken a 900lb Alaskan Brown at just under 20 yds.

Last but certainly not least is a really sweet 1958 S&W Model 27 (no dash) with an 8-3/8 inch barrel and original "coke-bottle" grips, a little turn ring , finish is original at about 98%. I took it in trade from fellow FReeper Tijeras_Slim earlier this summer. This baby is accurate down to 100yds and averages a shade under 3" off of a sandbag with factory .357 target loads.
