Just curious....

Does anyone here really think Gustav is headed for New Orleans? Could it be that the projections are just wishful thinking on the parts of those making them? Are we taking them seriously?

I'm not saying it won't hit New Orleans. I'm just wondering and maybe a bit skeptical.

I think Gus will make landfall in Texas, but he is very large and storm surge could hit LA, especially if he skirts along the LA coastline. I do not think it is hype, they are in the cone, 30 foot high waves...it is best to leave when you live in a bowl and are down along the coast.

just my 2 pennies.

If you read what the forecasters wrote, they said themselves they could NOT predict where Gustav will make landfall. Now, they have a storm, it’s headed in the general direction of La. They gotta put something in the way of info out there, they can’t just say,” hey, storm comin, lookout on the coast.”

Picking an exact hit on a storm that is supposed to stall some before it hits is tough to do.

What does look likely is that NO will at the very least be on the nasty side of the eye which is never a good place to be.

They will definitely get some surge, question is how much.

I don't think anyone here wishes damage, hurt, or loss of life on anyone, anywhere.
