No idea why we are so low. If you click on the color coded map on the left on that link, you can see the state by state prices and also zoom into individual zip codes. We are usually a little below average, but almost never the lowest. But right now we are down there with Missouri and New Jersey. I’d imagine everybody’s gas prices will go up depending how long all the refining capacity is disrupted and how much damage is sustained to refining and production. About half of the refining capacity and a quarter of domestic production is in this concentrated area of the upper TX/LA coast. Some analysts say it may spike to $5/gallon.

Huh, well we’ll keep our eyes on it. At one point yesterday Hanna was showing significant weakening, so let’s hope that continues for ya.

Ok, you all don’t blame me....Alter Kaker just posted thread that says Gustav is now a CAt 5 and that is why I asked cause I knew some wise folks would set me straight...and his post does NOT say it is growing into one....although that is what FEMA is saying....so I was misinformed by him and Fox News...now I am straight...thank you all....

From what I heard on Fox, they are expecting New Orleans to be on the dirty side of the storm even if it hits Texas.

It is sickening to think it could hit there again. Sad anywhere for this much power and destruction, but for it to go there again....

Picking an exact hit on a storm that is supposed to stall some before it hits is tough to do.

What does look likely is that NO will at the very least be on the nasty side of the eye which is never a good place to be.

They will definitely get some surge, question is how much.

I don't think anyone here wishes damage, hurt, or loss of life on anyone, anywhere.

Well, it is a holiday weekend so the newsies all have their third string employees writing headlines. No surprise they got it wrong.

Exactly. We left Louisiana in December 2005 and now live in Texas. I can't imagine having to go through another major hurricane!

Thanks!

Texas was my guess a couple of days ago. I still can’t see it heading straight for the La coast. Though, maybe that is wishful thinking on my part. I hope not.

My parents lived in the Pearland/Friendswood area about 13 years ago. They were flooded out of their home. Low area.

THanks You are sweet Star.

Mostly a lot of rain, winds up to 32 knots, some thunder now, but nothing to really worry about.

I am afraid the Gulf oil rigs and refineries and the Northern Gulf Coast from Miss. to Texas is up for a pretty big hit however.

There is an interesting link here that states that the worst hit for the oil wells and refineries is about a 30 mile swath that is near unpredictable until near the end.

Been there ... I know what you’re feeling.... it stinks. Lost it all in Andrew, relocated to Tampa, then Ivan, Jean, and Frances come along in 2004 .... a month after the last one, I was gone ... after over 30 yrs in FL. Enough is enough, and life does go on. God is good. Prayers for you and all at potential risk.

I wish I had the link handy but I don't that shows that after Katrina there were many damaged oil rigs that were left unrepaired because the demon rats had the repair permits bumped up so high that it was literally cheaper to build a new oil platform and drill a new well instead of repairing wells that were in operation before the storm. Sheer liberal insanity at work again.

If those bozos do that again we have to nail them on it and quickly.
