Recently the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has discovered that these hot towers appear when the hurricane is about to intensify.

Isn’t this about the same track as Katrina?

Katrina entered the gulf by passing over south Florida rather than shooting the Yucatan/Cuba gap, if that’s what Gustav does end up doing.

Katrina went across Florida and then looped through the Eastern Gulf and north to the LA/MS border. Gustav is projected to track south of Cuba.

Any idea where the loop currents are currently located in the Gulf? That’s the ultimate wilcard, IMO.

Wish I knew the answer. What I do know is the models are in unusual agreement.

If it were me, unless I lived in a bunker, I might want to head North on one of the interstates before all the good rooms were gone. As usual FR is ahead of everyone and everything in breaking.
