For more than a year, much of the news from the oil industry hasnt exactly been positive. The price for a barrel of oil reached record highs and seemingly a daily basis, and the quarterly profit statements by the major oil companies hit records as well. With U.S. drivers paying previously unheard-of prices to fill up their tanks, the oil industry was the enemy.
This was true here in Southeast Texas, even though oil is a crucial element of the regions economy.
Oil and pump prices have eased recently, and thats not the only reason the blood pressure of area residents can take a dip.
Plans were announced last week that a floating oil offloading terminal would be built off the Texas coast about 36 miles from Freeport.
The platform would tap into the tapestry of pipelines that run through Brazoria County and beyond to feed the oil refineries in Texas City, Beaumont-Port Arthur and other places along the Southeast Texas coast.
When operational, which could be in about two years, the $2 billion Texas Offshore Port System floating terminal could handle almost one-fifth of the countrys petroleum imports, sending 1.8 million barrels of oil to the regions terminals every day.

Moreover, no enterprise that builds, maintains, or acquires such a monstrosity should receive ANY consideration concerning inconme tax relief.
It is my belief that any such enterprises should recieve tax credits with respect to capital investment and employmwnt related expenses. It is my belief that enterprises that deal significantly (or virtualy exclusively) with unions, should enjoy tax credits when the enterprise in question shows significant improvement respecting employment numbers period to period (amd period over period).
I believe that exective management of such enterprises should decide which, what and when tax benefits should be taken, i.e., should the enterprise deal with market share, the Federal tax break, or the share-holder's wrath.
Quite frankly, until one of you smart guys can finger it out, I'm attached at the hip to that very disgusting monstrosity.
Please escuse me while I go and attend to matters pertaining to defrosting my 25 y/o freezer; its probably been two years since I've done this.
FWIW: there's some serious jazz going on PBS RIGHT NOW.
So you’re saying you want cheap oil, but don’t want oil refineries or any oil infrastructure that comes with said cheap oil?
Monstrosity? I think it’s beautiful, magnificent, a wonder to behold.
The infrastructure of the US has these "monstrosities" in place so you can have the need to defrost anything.
No. That’s NOT what I said.
I’m pulling mine back a little also, sorry.
Nope. That’s not what I said at all.
Why? Your point is valid.
Because ever since the soot report left cities in the early 1900’s I swore I would not attack anything that gave us that hell.
Its a monstrosity as beautiful as any beaver dam.
Huh?
It is my belief that Washington should get bent.
My Model A needs gas to go down the road and uncle hank finds he can get it. Magically, Uncle Sam shows up and taxes it. Uncle Hank offers some drink later on...Uh Oh...
Jaspers tells me that "I HAVE had a "final" experience."
What WAS his experience? You couldn't tell me Jasper's "meaning" of life if you tried (and had intent to do so), respecting the universe "and everything".
You know WHAT? I had an "experience" yesterday. I had one the day before, the week before, the month before, etc...
In fact I have "experiences" ALL the time.
There's NOTHING you can do 'bout it, " KNOW I had an experience." The world I live im is absurd. Your face is absurd, your name is absurd, you, sir, are absurd. I'm not going to try to authenticate myself on the basis of your absurdity. Look, "The old Heidegger is the new Heidegger!" I demand tat you take a position with either:
Projects like this are essential for our energy infrastructure. I don't think most people realize how important some of these pipelines are.
