God, I hate these stories . . . this woman was arrested for ignoring a court order. I’m supposed to feel sorry for her?

I think the point of the story here is:
She’s smoking hot

Dalibor, who made the mistake of ignoring a court citation
That'll do it every time.
Not guilty, btw. Though she could lose a few of those piercings - yuck!

I can feel the vacuum from here.

..."White Oleander" (a 1999 Oprah Book Club selection) and "Angels & Demons," author Dan Brown's precursor to "The Da Vinci Code."
If you are going to be busted for neglecting to return library books, then at least pick books and book combinations that would cause others in stir to stay away from you. Some suggestions:
A Clockwork Orange and The Anarchist's Cookbook
A Handbook on Explosives and Green Eggs and Ham - frankly, I like the juxtaposition here.

7 posts and no one’s said “throw the book at her”?

Don’t mess with librarians. They crack spines all day.

Though she could lose a few of those piercings
Agreed.

We can all learn a valuable lesson by taking a page from her experience here...

sorry guys. she is not hot. she's got kinda crazy eyes, a la the runaway bride. you can just tell.
as for the "cuffed and stuffed" verbage, i am sure the officers were very nice and she was treated with kid gloves. she looks happy in the photo.
this will not be on her record. i'll see if i can find her facebook page.

You’d be cuffed and stuffed in a cruiser if you stole two books out of a bookstore.
The library had to spend money to replace the books she never returned. Once she refused to pay the fines or return the books it was theft.
...and no, there is no “real” crime in Grafton for the cops to deal with.

BOOKMAN: You think this is all a big joke, don't you?
JERRY: No, I don't.
BOOKMAN: Well, let me tell you something, funny boy. Y'know that little stamp, the one that says "New York Public Library"? Well that may not mean anything to you, but that means a lot to me. One whole hell of a lot. Sure, go ahead, laugh if you want to. I've seen your type before.
