THE CHUMASH STASH: The Chumash not only ate plenty of shark, they also fashioned the centra of a shark's vertebrae into jewelry and talismans, such as these. [Paul Wellman]
They used shark’s skin as sandpaper to smooth out the pine and redwood used to build their seagoing canoes called “Tomols” The finned shark features in some of their rock art I believe as well.
If they ate sardines where are all the tin cans?
