Bush warns Russia not to overthrow Georgia's government Russia's attacks against the former Soviet republic of Georgia have "substantially damaged Russia's standing in the world," President Bush told reporters ... Bush also warned Russia against trying to depose Georgia's government, saying evidence suggests Russia may be preparing to do so.
"Russia must reverse the course it appears to be on," Bush said in the Rose Garden of the White House.

Isn't this the same Putin who accused us of aggression when we invaded Iraq after 10 years of peace treaty violations and 17 UM resolutions? And Putin justifies this by saying they violated a cease fire agreement???
Has Iran paid the Russians yet for the nuclear reactor at Bushehr? Does it come with a warranty?
Russia is not to be trusted. Russia is populated by a horde of thick-necked, stubby-legged thugs. And that’s just the women!
angela merkel the chancellor of germany was wrong.
wonder if she has any misgivings?
Or what?
Or what? Nothing. We have literally thousands and thousands of convention warfare equipment either wore out or destroyed after all these years in Iraq. Most of which has not been replaced or repaired.
I seriously doubt we could fight a conventional ground war that lasted more than a couple of weeks against somebody like the Ruskies, which, by the way, has had a couple of decades since their debacle in Afganistan to repair and replace theirs.
In Russia, whatever be the appearance of things, violence and arbitrary rule is at the bottom of them all. Tyranny rendered calm by the influence of terror is the only kind of happiness which this government is able to afford its people.

“Has Iran paid the Russians yet for the nuclear reactor at Bushehr? Does it come with a warranty?”
When it breaks, I/m sure they will just have a melt down.
My point exactly!
Not to mention the logistics of moving an entire corps (which is what it would take to drive out the Russkies) plues POL plus ammo plus paperclips to Turkey by sea and air and thence to Georgia overland. The Russian logistical tail would be essentially zero-length by comparison.
And what do we do if a newly-emboldened Russia moves on the Baltics or (God forbid) Poland? Georgia is ultimately expendable, but if the Russians were to invade a NATO country, there’d be nothing to discuss. We are treaty-bound to regard an attack on any NATO country as an attack on the U.S., requiring a full retaliatory response.
This is what we get for trying to run the military on the cheap. And, as always, innocent people will pay (and are paying) for our mistake.
so what did we go and do?....attack Afghanistan......and now we're stuck and poor and tired just like Russia was...
the WOT is the best thing Bush has done, but I wish he had thought about an exit stategey before he started....like, we're gone in a year....
we have a lot of Russian immigrants here, and from looking at them, MOST of them are thin, blonde, blue eyed and pretty, at least the women....sure, there are a few stereotypes, but most of the people are nice looking....
“the WOT is the best thing Bush has done, but I wish he had thought about an exit stategey before he started....like, we’re gone in a year....” Um, did you not catch that speech where the President told the people that the WOT would take a long time, have many battles not reported to them, and is vital to our survival? The exit strategy for the WOT is much depenednt upon how the Islamic jihadi maniacs die and fail to be replaced. And by the way, we are winning the WOT in Afghanistan.
“like, we’re gone in a year”
But Muslims won’t stop fighting in a year. This “WOT” is a war against Islam and it will last for decades.
You seem to have forgotten about Chechnya. The most violent war of the past few decades. Russia lost a battalion or two of armor when they first entered Grozny. After initially losing the war in Chechnya, Putin sent the Butchers of Grozny into Chechnya and they went Medieval on the Groznians.
So our M1 Main Battle Tanks in Iraq are worn out ? Doing what ?
What ?. Russia lost 10's of Thousands in Checnya and Afghanistan. If we bleed them in the Caucasus, they are done.
You forget he TOLD us the WOT would be a long drawn out war. At the time we had been hit hard and were bracing for more and worse. We were ready then for “long drawn out” but when Bush was successful stemming the assault on the homeland, Dems saw a chance to chip away and gain political advantage.
What would your exit strategy be? Let them have it again>
