Here's a nice weapon for the ladies. S&W Lady Smith in .38/.357. Designed to fit the smaller hand and fires a range of ammunition from .38 target to .357 bone crusher. A little pricey new, but many available used.

Taurus also makes a small CC revolver in the same calibers:

For those who prefer an autoloader, I'd suggest the Millennium Pro, also by Taurus, available in calibers .32 through .45 ACP

Or the venerable Walther PPK-S, favored by James Bond:

Taurus makes a nice gun. But that S&W Lady Smith is perfection.

I’m kind of curious if that new Federal .327 Magnum will become common enough for a ladies hideout revolver. The specs look interesting.

My wife has always favored the .38 Special Charter Arms 5-shot 1-3/4” barrel. Says if it's good enough for John Lennon, it's good enough for her. At at any range up to about 15 yards, she can punch your lights out with it!

I can't emphasize enough the addition of CT laser grips to my S&W wheel gun. I went from accurate to deadly accurate. What a confidence builder when it is your carry-gun. ;)
