The Big Ten isnt as bad as you think.
Because of the geographical location, media coverage, and history, the Big Ten is the most popular conference in college sports. Big schools, big fan bases, big rivalries, big stadiums, its own network big, big, big. Its such a big league that it has too many teams for its name.
Since theres so much attention and so much coverage, fans from other leagues love to pile on when things arent going so well. However, for all of the bad PR and all the shots the Big Ten has taken over the last few years, its getting a bad rap. No, its not as good as the SEC, but its been better than the ACC and Big East and its been every bit as good as the Big 12 or Pac 10, if not better.
First of all, its time to stop punishing Ohio State for losing the last two national title games. Theres no shame whatsoever in losing to the national champions.
Second, its not fair to impugn an entire conference because one of its teams loses to USC every year. USC wouldve beaten at least 116 other teams in the last six BCS games its been in; theres no reason to rip on the Big Ten just because it keeps getting in the way of the steamroller.
Third, the league simply hasnt been as bad as you think.

The Big Ten will never get the respect they deserve until a Big Ten team beats an SEC team in a championship game. Period. GO BUCKS!!!!!!
It's the last years of your so called dynasty that has won by paying your recruits.
If I were a USC fan, I'd be ashamed. But then, you're not are you?
Then the program should be banned.
Of course it hasn't, and nobody but you is alleging such a thing, so it won't be.
There's nothing to be ashamed about, except perhaps your lies.
And that's no lie....just the tip of the iceberg.
ACC? Bwhahahahaha!!! Dream on. And correct me if I’m wrong but I remember some Big-10 teams beating Big-12 and ACC teams at bowl games in the past seasons, including Penn St. spanking Texas A&M in the alamo bowl last year. And that might as well been a home game for Texas A&M since it was held in San Antonio. That’s just embarassing.
Tough to disagree with that statement.
Team That'll Surprise
Iowa The schedule is a joke. There's no Ohio State or Michigan, and Wisconsin and Penn State have to come to Iowa City. The road games are against Pitt, Michigan State, Indiana, Illinois and Minnesota; that's not that bad. The offense needs a steady running back but gets everyone else back, and the defense should have one of the Big Tens best lines.
Good Lord, that's downright lucky to not have either UM or OSU on the conf. schedule.
If it was done at all, it wasn’t done by the University.
What else do you have?
couldn’t agree more. Texas always books a cupcake non-conf schedule, as do many of the other Big-12 teams.
The USC/Ohio St is the regular season game of the year. That game will most likely decide one of the teams going to the National Championship game. And in the 3rd week of the season. Thats how important that game is.
Just because the Dean didn't give him the money doesn't mean the program isn't at fault.
It doesn't take much for the coaches and University to look the other way does it?
I’m not your pal, and I don’t think the university should go around spying on players’ families.
By the way, no charges have been made against the university by the NCAA, just from envious people like you.
What else do you have?
There's enough evidence for anyone to understand that Bush was paid by boosters, and that the program is skirting the rules.
And trust me, I'm not envious. Just disgusted for college football.
No, there’s enough evidence for YOU. And you’re the only one who counts.
That you're willing to put on the blindfold as a fan is what counts.
USC has won 11 National championships (including 2004 and 1939)
I think Alabama claims 52.
Then the program will be given the death sentence if you’re right.
It’s easy to make accusations. You’re good at that. You came up with ONE widely investigated instance to support your broad accusation and then accuse me having blinders.
That’s chickenshit, but you know that.
What else ya’ got?
USC has won 11 National championships (including 2004 and 1939)
Wasn’t one of USC’s seasons basically wiped from the record books because it came out the whole team was having its homework done for them?
Could of sworn is was USC, but it might of been another Cali PAC-10 School.
No it won’t, because the NCAA is not powerful enough and incapable of its own investigation. It’s only boosters like you that allow them to get away with it. Try reading this without holding your head in shame: http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaaf/news?slug=dw-bush_usc&prov=yhoo&type=lgns
Probably never.
