May God rest his soul and take him home; a musician’s musician who brought joy to millions.

When I was young, I thought of their music as “easy listening” or “elevator music.”
Nowadays, I think of it as “music to be a citizen of the most powerful country in the world by.”
They were emblematic of a different, happier, more confident time.

Damn! That music was good for my blood pressure.
Wait a minute, even though one of the guys is now dead, we can still listen to the music by way of pre-recorded music and video. Thank goodness for the magic of technology.
Just think, fifty years from now, I'm going to die and one of my grandkids is going to be able to bump this thread back to the top.

There is no 'easy listening' music now. And we're all worse off for it. Oh, tell me about bland and often pretentious New Age, but that's not the same as the Hollyridge Orchestra (I think that was their name) playing smart orchestral versions of the Beatles hits.
Today at my corporate gym, the clueless gym managers play (off a satelite) some truly annoying trash called techno or 'house', that I myself call modern halfass disco. Something to offend some. Whereas easy listening was something to soothe all, even if it didn't always succeed, with us Jimi Hendrix fans.

I remember how popular they were...

My husband’s cousins studied under them and went on to have a long career of their own.

Teicher is survived by his wife, Betty, and three children, Richard, Susan and David, and grandchildren.
RIP.
