The article fails to mention whether alcohol was involved.Probably not since she hit it. Of course it doesn't say how many shots it took.

I don't condone shooting them, but is some areas there are so many eagles that they're becoming dangerous pests. Also, large groups of eagles go out on raids and literally kill for fun. Not the nicest birds.

I received USFWS news releases and this is about the fifth I have read recently about people shooting eagles.
Why would anyone want to shoot one?
Since I live on a big lake I have several nesting here, had one flying over my house recently.
And, a few years ago I was striper fishing after a cold weather shad killoff. The dead/dying shad were floating all over the surface of the water. I had more fun watching a pair of eagles feeding on them than fishing (we couldn’t get a bite that day, there was too much food easily available).
They are beautiful creatures.
Flycatcher, don’t know where you live, but if you ever get a chance to do some birdwatching at Reelfoot Lake in Tennessee, you’ll love it.

It fails to mentrion more than that.
Why did she shoot the bird? Was it preying on her pets or livestock? Was she seeking to get some eagle feathers for Indian ceremonies or regalia? Lots of unknowns and, quite often, that's an indicator that the gub'mint and/or MSM don't want the folks back home to know the whole story.
Granted, it may be just another Billybob (or Billyjo) story, but a great many violations of various laws, regulations and treaties are unjust, intrusive, ignorant of local conditions or just plain illegal if we're still calling ourselves a Constitutional Republic.
