She will be here in the Bay Area, I wonder if I could find the light switch?

Entitled as a partial payback, possibly.

We continue to rebuild, what is our ROI (return on investment)?

Book tour. This explains why Congress is closed.

And who wants to see Bela Pelosi on Comedy Central?

Why not just turn on CSPAN for laughs and yucks?

Our ROI is improved stability in the region, replacing a tyrannical terrorist-supporting anti-American regime with one that is more supportive of our interests. Whatever arrangements we might negotiate with the Iraqis vis-a-vis oil production, proceeds from their oil production, etc, the bottom line is that Iraqi oil production belongs to the Iraqi people and not to the U.S.

I would have no problem with Iraq providing the fuel that our troops use in Iraq for free

If the Iraqi government were to negotiate that with our government, I wouldn't have a problem with that either. But I don't think that we are entitled to demand that from them, nor are we entitled to tell them how much oil to produce, where to sell it, or where to have it refined, or what to do with the profits. If we were called the United Socialist States of Venezuela and had just re-elected Hugo Chavez, I might expect us to make such demands; but then if that were the case we would not have seen any need to get involved in forcing the regime change in Iraq that had been official U.S. policy regarding Iraq since the clinton administration.

don't know...
but I suspect she will be replaced as Speaker in January.

The ‘Rats are gonna get so much flak from their constituents about gas prices that they're gonna wish they had worn a helmet! LOL
Not to mention, I suspect the ‘Rats will not win as many seats in the House as they had planned on because of this issue.

Current rank up to a blistering 944 from less than 1,544 two days ago.

The Presidenty needs to order Congress back into session to resolve the Offshore Drilling issue. Nutjob Nancy can push her propaganda some other time.

Just curious, do you know we supported Saddam Hussein against Iran in the Iran/Iraq War in the 1980’s?

Do you know that we were good friend with Iran until 1979 and Jimmy Carter ushered in Islamic fundamentalists with the Shah’s exile?

I hate to beat this dead horse because it makes me sound like a Liberal, but who is making money in Iraq? We, as taxpayers, shoulder the burden of the military and for their freedom, they need to pay back something.

It seems fair for a few thousand lives and a trillion dollars.

This is why she closed the house - she had to pimp her book.

I’d have to agree with you.

Oil is a world commodity. Producing more oil, regardless of where it comes from, increases supply, which in turn lowers prices.

Simple supply side economics.

I hope NOBODY goes to her stupid book signings.. she's beyond despicable...a power hungry, little dictator who is doing a lousy job at running the House. The Republicans did a lousy job when they were in charge too.

I'll give credit to the Repubs who stood up to her and the rest of the Dims on Friday...I really doubted anyone in the Repubican party could manage to find their spine...none seemed able to while they were in the drivers seat...all they could do was spend and for some reason the President couldn't seem to find his way to veto ANYTHING.

So I don't have a whole lot of sympathy for any of them,.....BUT, compared to the bunch of Socialist scum that are trying to drag our country down to just another 3rd. world nation....they are our best and probably only hope. I don't aim to paint ALL with a broad brush, I'm sure there are a very few with honest concern for the nation, rather than worrying where the next votes will come from to keep their sorry keisters in office.

Sure does.

but who is making money in Iraq?

A lot of companies that weren't allowed to during Saddam's reign of terror.

Including a company my brother works for.

And it will only increase. Patience and perseverance.

We, as taxpayers, shoulder the burden of the military and for their freedom, they need to pay back something.

So you support the "blood for oil/money" plan?

“Her days as Speaker of the House are numbered.”

Yes, the whole House is up for re-election, and they are not going to give up losing their cushy, crooked seats and inflated income because of her.

Should this happen, she will lose credibility among her own supporters never to be regained.

Money talks the walk.

Yes, I know that the Shah of Iran was one of the best leaders (and one of the best allies of the U.S.) in the Islamic Middle East until he snubbed Jimmy Carter somehow, and as a result Carter adopted policies toward Iran that allowed the Khomeini supporters to overthrow the Shah and trun Iran into the mess that it is today.

Yes, I know that with Iran becoming more and more dangerous and unstable we supported Hussein in the war between Iraq and Iran.

We have offered our military presence in Europe, in Asia, and throughout the middle east since the 1950’s and I am not aware of any reparations that we have required from any of the countries that have benefited from our military bases and deployments in the form of having U.S. control of the profits from their industries.

Are you kidding? This is a golden opportunity to Freep Nancy! Make signs (Who paid for the gas in your tank? TAXPAYERS!) and shout out the question, "When are you going to stop shilling you book and get back to work?"

So.

It becomes clearer why Popeye Pelosi was so intent on forcing Congress to adjourn this past Friday.

Had Congress remained in session -- and dealt seriously with fiding a means to lower energy costs in the short term -- Madame Speaker would not have been able to travel (on her fossil-fuel-burning jet) hither and yon, promoting the sale of her book.

Oh great - and just in time for our annual gravel-pit shoot-em-up, where my gun owner friends gather to shoot at un-ordinary targets we collect and bring with us. I nailed a couple of Dixie Chicks CD’s a couple of years ago with a 9mm, and their still hanging in my garage like trophies. Pelosi’s book with a few well placed shots would be an ideal addition.
