Golly! That fishin’ seems to run in your family, truly a fearsome bunch. Between the two of you I’m surprised there’s any fish left east of the Mississippi. LOL!
I saw a show awhile back of a couple guys catching catfish with their hands along riverbanks or swamps, can’t remember which in the south. Couldn’t pay me to do that, I’d sure as heck find a gator or water moccasin. That just isn’t my idea of fun. :-)
I am willing to pay any FR noodler $25 who will go to the bayou I went to with my former editor (mentor) in Southwest Louisiana.
He showed me this levy on a bayou in Louisiana, to convince me I should go canoeing with him there. I looked down and saw about 50 cottonmouths and said “No Thanks.”
I guess I am a pansy at times.
Maybe I’ll toughen up someday. I still don’t like taking catfish off the hook (I have many times). These cats have something that stings the *** out of your hands, their sharp gills.
My sister is into catfishing. I’d like to be hiding in the water someday and put a big old Musky on the end of her line, and watch her jump out of her skin. I caught one of these muskies once, scared the crap out of me, these fish hiss and snap at you!!!
This coming fall I am going to be on a lake renowned for musky fishing. I am going to let the guide take them off the hook. I’ll enjoy the fight, though.
With enough beer, I might noodle one of these muskies. YEA, right.
