 My Dragonfly And Me

If I could be a Dragon Fly
and wing my way through the sky
 I would never be shy
just me and my Dragon Fly!

By moonlight we ride the wind
chase the comets tail for fun
by day we would hide from the sun
our fragile wings would come undone

On darkest nights we would use
 fireflies as our guide
we would dip and we would glide
 through the heavens open wide
and scatter diamonds in the night sky
 my Dragon Fly and me...

And we would wing past our lovers
 silent in the night...
to kiss their face in our flight
much to their surprise and delight
my Dragon Fly and me in sight...

Such a view do we share
away up here in the air
of breezes soft through our hair
my Dragon Fly and me a pair...

 Happy Anniversary Month
 The Dragonflies'Lair,
Five years of poetry and fun. Anniversary date August 27, 2003.

 The Lovers

The years began to weigh on them
Their youth had been spent well
 Their summers lived with nature

On a sand dune, or a moss covered dale
The castles built in the sand were
 Washed away each day
 With glee and much merriment
They would built a new one just for play

Or in the magic of the dale
 His role a majestic king
She was, of course her Ladyship
In trappings of silk and velvet best of everything

They played their roles with happiness
 In seasons warm and cold
It was for the memories - they
Acted in this way, a nagging thought
Of feebleness held the two at bay

On full moon nights the shadows moved
 On rivers edge as one
The willow dance was theirs alone
The night critters silent observers at best

They moved as one these soul mates bound
One could not live without the other
It was written somewhere in stone
Or on parchment papers thin rolled
And hidden away in some secret castle niche

 It happened just that way.
They were not from this world, of shed blood
Or scorn, they were a special breed of folks, you see
Their love a sworn oath, all for one, one for all
 Until their life was done.

 WayzataJOHNN to Soaring Feather

 Old Truck Blues

It aint the best looker on the block
looking more like it caught rocks
any yet for years it ran with ease
a faithful friend, sweet as you please

Few the aches and fewer the pains
a staunch shelter in heat or rain
the load box full of important things
and me up front, the roads true king

Its heart broke and stop that morn
and I was afoot, its loss to mourn
Ol Blue had packed it in at last
I fear its time may be in the past

The station medic tending to its care
says for more then I have itll be fair
but I have to wonder if it may be saved
for without a grant it may get waived

It aint the best looker on the block
looking more like it caught rocks
any yet for years it ran with ease
a faithful friend, sweet as you please
