This is one of the first installments from Free Republic's Gun Club. It's going to be a daily discussion on subjects covering firearms, Gun Rights and overall firearms experiences.
Some years ago, Friday seemed to be the time to post photos of our favorite toys. I volunteered to make it a weekly occurance.
One of the things I did learn through the years, though. It's not the gun. It's just a tool in the hands of the person who makes it happen. That rusty and pitted .38 revolver may not look like much but to the owner, it may have helped in getting out of a lot of scrapes. Also, that match pistol may look good but it might have been instrumental in losing more matches than the one half it's price and bone stock.
So let's see 'em. The pretty ones, the ugly ones and the dusty ones including the old favorite grampa gave us when he passed on.

Don’t hold your breath. We can’t get them yet. As far as I know, they’re not available.

Here's my new purchase. Taurus Judge - 45 Long Colt or 410 shotgun, or a mix of both.

I’ve heard of Dick Maretzo but have never met him. I shoot in NBRSA southeast region and he is in the eastern region.

When you figure out how, please add me to your ping list. I’ve had that exact Taurus PT 1911 for two years (with original grips). After about 3000 rounds, I’ve not had a single misfeed and after a minor rear sight adjustment, the accuracy has been awesome. I love the vented competition-style trigger on this gun, too. It’s a great .45 for the money (less than 1/2 the price of a Kimber Gold Match II, but then, of course, the Kimber is a work of art).

My latest (got it in a trade from Freeper
Tijeras_Slim). A 1958 model 27 no dash 8-3/8 barrel, with original coke bottle grips. A little turn ring and thats about it. Finish is original, at about 98%. I've fired it out to 100yds and averaged a shade under 3" at 100yds off of a sandbag with factory .357 target loads.
My preferred carry. A stainless Springfield .45ACP Champion modified in 1997 by the late Joe Bonar of Novak's in WV.
One of my nasty little Evil Black Rifles.

A while back I decided to provide my wife with a new 20 gauge, so I spent some time turning this:
Into this:
It's a Stevens 311D. The wood came from a California stock maker who had a fire, and was selling it at a discount. Total cost with all materials, less that $300.
Gotta love a Stevens.

My favorite and best buy through the years has been my Redhawk. It now has 13K+ full house loads through it. The only changes I made to it were the grips and changing the sights to a gold bead with a V-notch rear.

Love that Mod. 27.
There's just something about old Smiths...

Sweet... First firearm I ever used was a Stevens 311 16 gauge. My bro has it now...
I have a 20 on my want list.
