....and Mama Bear (despite her pie--it's still great to eat--debacle)--

And a debacle it was!! It's funny now, but I sure wasn't a happy little pie maker last night. LOL.

Darn it, I hate that happened. Did you leave the cool whip out longer than you should have. Of course, whipping it could have been the culprit. I gotta quit thinking about that pie. I want to make it real soon. The thank you heart is precious!

Such a sweet little church. It reminds me of the little churches here in NH. I have quite a few I’ve taken photos of in the last years, but going through my files today would be too much for me. I’m all pooped out from a family cookout yesterday, and not sleeping all night.

Over-tired, or full moon? Maybe a combo of both. Right now I’m surviving on two cups of coffee. Heaven help me when that wears off...sigh.

Four politicians are caught in a tornado, and off they whirled to OZ. They finally make it to the Emerald City and came before the Great Wizard.

“WHAT BRINGS YOU BEFORE THE GREAT WIZARD OF OZ?”

Barack Obama stepped forward timidly: “I fumbled the Russian invasion of Georgia problem, was outfoxed by the Clintons on convention appearances, and was too meandering in my answers to Rev. Rick Warren's questions so as not to offend anyone in the country. I've come for some courage.”

“NO PROBLEM!” says the Wizard. “WHO IS NEXT?”

Nancy Pelosi steps forward, “Well, I don't understand one thing about economics—especially the Law of Supply and Demand. I don't even know which Congress passed it or whether we can repeal it. I.......I think I need a brain.”

“DONE” says the Wizard. “WHO COMES NEXT BEFORE THE GREAT AND POWERFUL OZ?”

Up stepped Harry Reid sadly, “I'm told by the American people that I need a heart. They also told me that I need a personality and that I'm a crotchety old obstructionist fool, but I'll take your gifts one at a time--just like back at home.”

“I'VE HEARD THEY'RE TRUE!” says the Wizard. “CONSIDER IT DONE.”

There is a great silence in the hall. Bill Clinton is just standing there, looking around, but doesn't say a word. Irritated, the Wizard finally asks, “WHAT DO YOU WANT?”

“Is Dorothy here?”

A faint voice could be heard from behind the curtain that sounded just like John Edwards' voice: "Bill wait your turn. I have damn little time before Elizabeth comes out of remission again."

Thank you so much, Kitty Mittens. I’m truly a novice compared to the talent I see on this thread.

All I can say is, it helps me keep my sanity when all else fails.

The Emerald City

Somewhere under the rainbow
the Emerald City gleams
I've been there many times before
and still go there in dreams
With towers tall that touch the sky
many wondrous things to see
I'll show them all to you, my dear
take my hand and come with me

Somewhere under the rainbow
that sparkling city shines
Where people help their fellow man
and treat each other kind
I gaze across the Hudson
see the towers standing tall
it sometimes it makes me wonder
why when closer I feel small

— Laura Josselyn © 2001

NOTE from Laura: This poem is dedicated to all of the members of the New York City
Fire Department, and to my father, Salvatore Pilato “Rocky” who passed away last year.
My father was a NYC Fire Marshal, a NYC Fireman, a lifelong Honorary Chief of the
NYC Volunteer Fire Department and a member of the Emerald Society. He served this
country in both the US Air Force and the US Navy. He showed me, as well as my brothers
and sisters, so much about life and about our beautiful home, New York City -
the true heart of it, and it has so much heart to see. As are all New York City Firemen,
my father was a very brave man, and a shining example of a giving and heroic soul.

Groan... Cardy, I haven’t caught up with the last two yet. I’m slooooow this mornin’.

I need to visit the Wizard first, ok?

...and no nasty guesses of what I need, either.

Dang. I hope the cake was chocolate!

Well, of course! What else?! Unless you liked a white cake better, then it would have been a white cake. :)

I used some graphics I already had made. She posted some gorgeous, custom made, brand new graphics this past week.

But I hadn't been gone on vacation myself just two weeks prior to Amy's leaving, so I had plenty of time to get ready for my 'days'. Thank you, Lori. (and I didn't remember having seen those you posted last week before, so if I didn't, bet no one else did either.) :)

LOL .... I was hoping he looked like one of yours.

I'm sure it will be awhile before we take another long driving vacation.
The next one will either be Las Vegas or California.
Will need to find something for Marissa in Vegas.

Marissa starts school on Wednesday .... so in addition to loads of laundry,
I need to get her ready for school.
I'm glad it is only for 3 days this week. Whew !!!

I had planned to find the pie recipe and try it later.
I will try cool whip on the first one. LOL

Have a beautiful Monday.

Thank you for posting the horse, it is a true work of art. Even knowing what it is made of, it is still amazing, so proud and high stepping.

Wasn't that something! Someone sent those to me in email, and there were actually several more pictures. Think of all the piles of driftwood they must have, to be able to choose the right shapes and pieces to put together to build something so magnificent. Forget that, think of the TALENT they have to know how to do it!
