As a volunteer of the 29th Olympic Game that will be held in Beijing soon,I gave up my summer holiday and have been working in the Olympic village since 20th this month.Every day,we work really hard to prepare well for the coming of the big event, and I'm wondering if anyone here will come to Beijing.
I'm definitely with you in that regard. Even if I wanted to go, just try to get tickets. Like the Super Bowl, only the rich/famous/powerful get to sit in the stands (along with the lucky few who win tickets in sweepstakes).
“There were some exceptions, but far too many FReepers welcomed them with spit and insults, much like we’re seeing on this thread.”
We seem to have an active pro-ChiCom contingent here (present company excluded :)
BTW, Constitutionalist Conservative - we did not welcome them with insults. Initially, AdminMods had a moratorium on posting critical posts to the Chicoms and we began posting only after the Chicoms posted their usual threats and insults. I can search for links but I’m sure you know how to use FR’s search function as well as I do.
I wish I was in China, but I’d prefer to be outside of Beijing. (Many Olympic events will be held in other cities.) Beijing will just be TOO crowded and difficult to manage in August, even with the endless supply of helpful residents.
No, but I have friends going because their jobs require it.
Enjoy the Games!
Heheeehe,She added this,
“I sometimes really find it’s very hard to be here, some guys are always trying to remind me that I don’t belong here. And now Ill answer some of the most FAQs,I’m just a a plain Jane that has nothing to do with our government, and neither do I want to bother anyone or steal any intelligence here.SO PEOPLE WHO HAS ENMITY WITH CHINA PLEASE LEAVE ME ALONE!”
They are informed by the experience of dealing with over 100 Chinese nationals signing up within a week in March. A good percentage of which claimed to be here to thank us for our sympathy over the earthquake on earthquake threads but on other threads acted just like any other ChiCom troll defending the ridiculous propaganda and the barbaric acts of the PRC. They were treated very well when they weren’t engaged in propaganda to the point where they were being protected even when they were. Your post is proof that some are still doing that.
I hate to give her a hard time if she’s just a young college student trying to reach out to America but, you never know on the Net.
Plus, it’s too damn easy to give her a hard time.
Heheeheee:)She ‘s on the wrong forum.
Not me. I went to Tibet on a climbing trip and would never voluntarily interact with the brutal Chinese totalitarians again.

I know a few people who are going, though I will not be going myself. Hope that you guys have a safe and successful Olympic games. Best wishes.
What are you studying in college?
Ni Hao, ADAARDIS! Huan ying!
I would love to be in Beijing, but it would be for Beijing itself, and not for the Olympics. I love your city, and the Chinese people. I have wonderful memories from my many and varied trips to China.
Enjoy your time during the games. It is a “once in a lifetime” experience!
Welcome to FR. Ignore the flames. I enjoyed traveling to your country in 2007 and will return for another visit after the olympics. I will be watching the swimming events very closely this year, as well as some of the track and field. I will be avoiding Beijing during the Olympics because I just do not like crowds. Good luck with your work and welcome again.
That is a very nice picture Meek. I just recently saw it so it must be on your Profile page. Thanks for the ping.
Hope you’ve got some anti-parasiticals handy, you got guts man, I’d never do that, not in a million years.
