Naomi Watts — Good choice for the Tippi Hedren Role.

The 2005 King Kong has been running on cable — Ms. Watts is a capable actress and obviously very comfortable in the CG environment.

Hopefully, the remake will include that suspenseful whistle theme music.

Most remakes are bad ideas and demonstrations of hubris. The 2005 King Kong (and the dreadful one from the 80) are evidence of just that.

Remaking any Hitchcock — even worse. But Hollywood can't seem to resist.

I’m betting that, in the remake, the birds’ bad behavior will be due to...global warming.

Naomi Watts — Good choice for the Tippi Hedren Role.

Sure, good casting, but why in the heck are they remaking this classic in the first place?!

"Bad idea."

Yep. About as bad as the remake they did of "Psycho." How do you improve on Mr. Hitchcock's masterful work?

And in the 2009 version, the problem is caused by...CLIMATE CHANGE!

OH NOES!

Does this mean that it’s a prequel to “Wall-E”? LOL!

“I am think about. Maybe I no do. But I tell-a you what ingenuity we plan and you tell me what you think. Kong-a lay dead, and — how you say — scientist come and take apart, and Kong come like Frunkensteen — you know Frunkensteen — and he come crazy bad. He kill everyone. And Dwan (Jessica Lange) is now a big-a time movie star and she say, ‘Hey, Kong, remember me?’ She jumps in his hand, he picks her up, put her to his face, smile and then . . . womp, he eat her. You like, Mary?”

— Dino de Laurentiis, interviewed by Mary Murphy.

One doesn't "remake" Hitchcock. If the director does not bring an entirely original vision, it will fail in the comparison with the original.

Now, if the modern viewing public has not seen the original, then it's another matter.
