Let me guess, you recently got a ticket for speeding and using your cell phone while driving, and while giving you a ticket, the officer also noticed that your inspection sticker expired?

Hey, if you don’t have anything to hide...if you’re not breaking any law....well we’ll just find one you are breaking. Standby.

My father is a retired cop with 30 years of service. He claims that pretty much all cops under the age of 35 suffer from severe Short D!ck Syndrome and they would never have been hired back in his day. It’s pretty darn sad that I grew up admiring cops and now I’m going to have to teach my future kids not to trust them.

i should stay away from this thread...but i won't.

everybody knows i'm a cop. haven't issued a traffic ticket in about 3 years, though. i prefer actual policing.

however, i will say this: whenever a cop issues a ticket, it is because he is told to do so by the brass and/or the local gov't.

i know VERY few cops who enjoy giving tickets. the only time it's fun is when the issuee is a total d-bag from the word "go." or when someone who got in an accident has hurt someone by driving like a nut.

In my small town, you better not speed! I got pulled doing 35 in a 30, I guess my foot slipped off the brake. $175 fine and the cop and judge said they no longer had the authority to reduce fines lower than the minimums. The minimum being $175 of course.

The courthouse was packed with us violaters and every cop had a shaved head. Not saying anything, but I'll be damned if they all didn't look like a damn neo-nazi group standing up there.

Of course much of what they do is to generate revenue for government, not all, but much of it.

If the government and law enforcement were doing their jobs, we wouldn't have upwards of 40 million illegals and their anchor babies here would we? These people are happy making super low wages with no medical benefits, and the businesses that support the career politicians love it, as long as stupid Americans pay the bill for this disaster.

Well, if you want to work just 20 years and retire with an annual hundred grand pension plus a sick day buy out of thousands of $$$$, you gotta do a little leg work.

There are such people in Massachusetts, who now of course reside in Florida and elsewhere more climate favorable.

We need laws redirecting this income away from localities. That should cut down on needless traffic enforcement and put cops back to work busting real criminals.

I will never forget what a Freeper posted many years ago about the "Protect and Serve" motto.

He said that the job of the police is NOT to protect or serve. They can't really protect you, and they really don't offer any service.

The job of the police is to enforce the law. "Protect and serve" is simply a motto for PR purposes.

“There’s no way to rule innocent men. The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren’t enough criminals, one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws. Who wants a nation of law-abiding citizens? What’s there in that for anyone? But just pass the kind of laws that can neither be observed nor enforced nor objectively interpreted and you create a nation of law-breakers.”

They are tax collectors for a large part of their day and a lot of them realize that.

Highway robbery. The Sheriff of Nottingham needs his taxes.

There is more money in shaking down non-violent procedural criminals than there is in prosecuting and keeping violent offenders behind bars.

I read a story on another site about a town called Tenaha, Tx that, for a couple of years now, have been pulling people over (about 140 of them) and threatening to charge them with a variety of things including money laundering if they don’t give them money, jewelry, even their cars. People have even had the police threaten to take their kids and put them in foster care if they didn’t sign away rights to their property. Most of them weren’t even charged with a crime and there was no contraband seized.
