A bit over the top? It is so far over the top that you can see the sky below! That is why I watch it. He is hilarious. And The Soup captures him perfectly. I TiVo CSI Miami so I can play back the truly ludicrous over-acting bits several times the better to savor them.

Now I’m curious enough to watch it.

Gad, I love the In-Freakin-Credible caliber of acting and plot
devices on CSI Miami.
David Caruso delivering the opening lines with the gravitas
of a Shakespearean actor...
plots such as riding out a tsunami in a bank vault...
or H. driving the Hummer at race-car velocity out of a building
as it's undergoing demolition and just ahead of each exploding column!
I love the original for the dark vision mixed with different
levels of humor and character development...
CSI Miami is the cartoon eye-candy version for real escapism.
CSI New York has just never captured me; even though I really
do like Gary Sinise as an actor and good-guy in his non-actor
roll visiting troops, etc.

Too bad they killed off Grissom’s stand-in, as played by Liev Schrieber (sp?),
the guy from the East Coast that got tangled up by an act of revenge.
And paid the hightest price for it.
I thought there was a bit of irony in having him as on CSI.
IIRC, he’s narrated every episode of the PBS series “Secrets of The Dead”
that I’ve seen.

Be sure an catch him dramatically taking off his sunglassese, or looking over the top of them to talk to someone, about, say, car keys, with as much gravitas as the Pope discussing transubstantiation.

I was bummed about that. I liked Liev.
I love Grissom and still recovering from Warrick. Sara can stay away. I was actually rooting for the serial killer. Too bad the wrong character was offed.

He’s had some health issues for a while now. Wouldn’t be surprised if that’s at least part of it.

What happen to Jorja’s character? I was forced to watch that show for 1 1/2 years due to my roommate. Have followed it since I moved out last March. I was always conflicted whether or not I thought she was hot.

She left to “find herself” after she was the target of a serial killer.
Unfortunately the serial killer didn’t get her (huge fan of Jorja Fox, can you tell?).

My sister told me about CSI several years ago and thought I might like it. Oh, good, I thought...real people dealing with real problems. Forensic mysteries would be methodically worked out by dedicated technologists and scientists using state of the art technologies.
Well...there is a little bit of that, but it is all covered in a heavy blanket of today's phony, sex drenched, narcissistic culture. Shapely actresses wearing tight revealing clothes pretend to be expert forensic technologists while they investigate murders that often have occurred in the midst of some sexual shenanigans. Then, to heighten our interest in the characters, we are invited into their personal lives and are supposed to share their angst about their latest shacking up dynamics. No thanks. I will stick with Joe Friday.

As someone who's never actually seen an entire episode of CSI: Miami (but I LOVE the original CSI, and have collected the DVDs!), I can say that there are only 2 reasons to watch CSI: Miami.
1) To watch David Caruso "ACT!"
2) Emily Proctor

Yeah. The interplay between her and Grissom, subtly indicating a relationship that might not be quite proper for a CSI executive, was interesting.
Remember the show where the Lt. made an unexpected morning call on Lady Heather who asnwered the door in a robe and finally we see Grissom having a cup of coffee, apparently on a social call.

I know what you mean. I was always conflicted whether I liked her character and the actor. Reading interviews from the actor didn’t help. Personally she is probably a little lost and could use some direction in her life.
