A bit over the top? It is so far over the top that you can see the sky below! That is why I watch it. He is hilarious. And The Soup captures him perfectly. I TiVo CSI Miami so I can play back the truly ludicrous over-acting bits several times the better to savor them.

Gad, I love the In-Freakin-Credible caliber of acting and plot
devices on CSI Miami.
David Caruso delivering the opening lines with the gravitas
of a Shakespearean actor...
plots such as riding out a tsunami in a bank vault...
or H. driving the Hummer at race-car velocity out of a building
as it's undergoing demolition and just ahead of each exploding column!
I love the original for the dark vision mixed with different
levels of humor and character development...
CSI Miami is the cartoon eye-candy version for real escapism.
CSI New York has just never captured me; even though I really
do like Gary Sinise as an actor and good-guy in his non-actor
roll visiting troops, etc.
