Apparently it's all gotten to be too much for Crime Scene Investigator Gil Grissom. Or, it will. Calling it an actual signoff rather than yet another sabbatical, EW.com reports that William Petersen will be leaving CSI sometime midseason. "Billy is leaving," series executive producer Carol Mendelsohn said. "But he will remain throughout the run of the series an executive producer. And he will, whenever CBS asks, come back. I don't think you've seen the last of Gil Grissom." "My biggest problem with leaving the show at any point isn't leaving Grissom," said Petersen, whose previous leave of absence came when he took five weeks off to do theater in Rhode Island. "I'm an actor, it's time to do other things. "[The hard part will be saying goodbye] to the cast and crew. [So] I'm going to stay as involved as I'm allowed to be throughout the remainder of this show. Until they turn off all the lights." Petersen's exit will mark the latest blow to the procedural's original main lineup, which lost Jorja Fox and Gary Dourdan last seasonalthough both will be making appearances in coming episodes (one more posthumous than the other).

A bit over the top? It is so far over the top that you can see the sky below! That is why I watch it. He is hilarious. And The Soup captures him perfectly. I TiVo CSI Miami so I can play back the truly ludicrous over-acting bits several times the better to savor them.
Now I’m curious enough to watch it.
Too bad they killed off Grissom’s stand-in, as played by Liev Schrieber (sp?),
the guy from the East Coast that got tangled up by an act of revenge.
And paid the hightest price for it.
I thought there was a bit of irony in having him as on CSI.
IIRC, he’s narrated every episode of the PBS series “Secrets of The Dead”
that I’ve seen.
Be sure an catch him dramatically taking off his sunglassese, or looking over the top of them to talk to someone, about, say, car keys, with as much gravitas as the Pope discussing transubstantiation.
I was bummed about that. I liked Liev.
I love Grissom and still recovering from Warrick. Sara can stay away. I was actually rooting for the serial killer. Too bad the wrong character was offed.
Nobody voluntarily leaves $600,000/week.
He’s had some health issues for a while now. Wouldn’t be surprised if that’s at least part of it.
What happen to Jorja’s character? I was forced to watch that show for 1 1/2 years due to my roommate. Have followed it since I moved out last March. I was always conflicted whether or not I thought she was hot.
She left to “find herself” after she was the target of a serial killer.
Unfortunately the serial killer didn’t get her (huge fan of Jorja Fox, can you tell?).
Well...there is a little bit of that, but it is all covered in a heavy blanket of today's phony, sex drenched, narcissistic culture. Shapely actresses wearing tight revealing clothes pretend to be expert forensic technologists while they investigate murders that often have occurred in the midst of some sexual shenanigans. Then, to heighten our interest in the characters, we are invited into their personal lives and are supposed to share their angst about their latest shacking up dynamics. No thanks. I will stick with Joe Friday.
1) To watch David Caruso "ACT!"
2) Emily Proctor
Mark
Emily Proctor - aka Freaky Hot Chick.
Yeah. The interplay between her and Grissom, subtly indicating a relationship that might not be quite proper for a CSI executive, was interesting.
Remember the show where the Lt. made an unexpected morning call on Lady Heather who asnwered the door in a robe and finally we see Grissom having a cup of coffee, apparently on a social call.
“Unfortunately the serial killer didnt get her (huge fan of Jorja Fox, can you tell?).”
I know what you mean. I was always conflicted whether I liked her character and the actor. Reading interviews from the actor didn’t help. Personally she is probably a little lost and could use some direction in her life.
