Tony is going to be buried on Thursday.
Bush will attend Tony Snow's funeral Thursday
I am not sure that everyone on FR is aware of Tony Snow's membership and contribution to this wonderful forum.
I am posting the link in the hopes that more people read his posts, and get a sense of what an incredible guy he was.

His last post on Free Republic was May 29th, 2008.
I know you are with God Tony.
See ya.
Thanks.
Just took a brief look, and while I knew Mr. Snow did write to FR, I never knew it was very deep. It is an honor to be a member of FR and to know great persons and Americans like Tony Snow also had posted on this site.
RIP Tony.
It is a great comfort to read these posts.

I posted this in "Chat" because I didn't know if it warranted any greater significance. Sidebar Mod - if there is still a "Free Republic" key or something you, John, or Jim feel is appropriate, that is up to you - and thanks either way.
On Thursday, there will a ton of news about his funeral. Even the MSM is feeling the loss now. There was a terrible "obit" by the AP that Rush mentioned Monday (the APs Jennifer Loven was said to be a contributor) that disparaged Tony as basically a good looking suit who was dumb.
Very respectful obit - thanks AP.
As the days have gone on, I feel even some in the MSM realize now what a great man he was.
CBS did an appropriate tribute to him now posted on You Tube.

I was shocked when AP put out that terrible obit on Tony Snow. But then again, a couple of weeks back FR got a bit of a warning about AP wanting to charge a fee for its news stories that are posted on other websites. Jim Robinson did the right thing and banned AP. So I should not be all that suprised about that obit on Mr. Snow coming out. At least FR knows it had posters famous and not famous posting. I was away on vacation last week and did not even get word of Mr. Snow’s passing until I was on my way home yesterday when plans for his furneral came out.
That just gave me the shivers, and it’s 80 degrees outside.
Thanks Sky Pilot. Let Ex Texas Redhead know. She will want to see this.
“Dang it, it was more imminent than he let on...I wonder if even he didn’t quite realize it.”
Attitude is half the battle, unfortunately it was not enough.
Ex Texas Redhead?
Ya know, I don't trust cute Jewish red heads who roam around in RVs, love aviation and the military, and had the super bad judgement to get involved with Air Force guys.

My friend Gary died of bone cancer 2 years ago. He was in my bible study, and I loved him. He had a beard, he kept in very good shape by running, and his wife is beautiful.
As Gary knew he was getting closer to death, he began to encourage others more than he allowed others to encourage him.
I knew Tony loved Christ, as every Christmas he posted about how he "taking time" to worship the Lord.
Gary gave me this book before he died.
He started talking about Heaven like it was something around the block to drive to. He was always a kind man, but in his last days he was almost angelic. He very briefly resisted something his wife wanted him to do while he was at the end of his days, and later he told a friend he was so upset he was like that with her. His language was kind and calm when he resisted what his wife wanted, and no one thought anything of it. It was basic conversation. But, it bothered him to no end, and he gave his wife a big apology that shocked even her.
I think, at that point, so close to death, he was already crossing over.
He began to talk to me about Heaven in tangible terms, such as trees, rivers, colors, trips (trips?! - yes), animals, friends, food, mountains, mansions, and the Glory of being the presence of God.
I recommend it the book.
Is this OK for you to ping to the Oswald Chambers ping list?
I was there the first time he subbed for Rush and he called me from NY when he had his first interview with FOX. He was the ultimate optimist.
I tell you this not to show off and be boastful. But to tell you in a personal way what a kind soul he was to stay in touch with me all these years, of course not as ofen, even though he was a VERY important and busy man. I know there are others here who know what I'm talking about. He always asked about me and wanted to know what my husband and I were up to. He was ALWAYS laughing.
I have a story I'm not so proud of also...when he was in San Diego in 1996 for the Republican Convention I was upset because he didn't contact me although he said he would. I accidentally ran into him in the hallway of the convention center and he said we should go to lunch. I said no. I was just a bitch...no other excuse. I wound up writing him a scathing email that I shouldn't have. I fully expected never to hear from him again. But I was wrong. He called me the moment he got that email and apologized and explained how busy he was and how sorry he was. He was on his way up and I thought my note would give him the excuse to just let go of our friendship.
But that wasn't Tony. He made things right, and I apologized for being a silly girl and we had a good laugh about it. But I've always been very embarrassed about it.
I also wanted to bring up another tragedy that he handled with grace...remember when his house burned down? He talked about that house on the radio all the time while it was being built. He loved it. And then the news came that there was a fire and it was all gone. All he said was that his family was ok an that's all he cared about. I don't think he ever dwelled on it again which is why we don't remember it.
My tagline says it all. I hope one day, if and when I'm promoted, I will meet up with my friend again.

Thank-you....as I am looking forward to that myself.
This is a thread I think you will enjoy Meek.
Tony Snow was something special. You felt it. He was so genuine.
The way he fought that disease. He was glowing with faith. I remember seeing him on O’Reilly one night. I was stressed out about some things in my life and dealing with a bout of bad depression. There I see Tony with this great smile on his face and his positive attitude. Just to see him made me feel better about life.
