I own a Sig Sauer P-226 and absolutely love it! This is my next purchase if I can convince myself that I really need another firearm for self defense carry..........

P220 Carry Equinox™ The Equinox™ is the balance between day and night. The P220 Carry Equinox™ is a limited production .45ACP designed by SIG SAUER® Custom Shop master gunsmiths. It features a two-tone accented Nitron® stainless steel slide with a lightweight black hard-anodized alloy frame. The contrast in color is achieved by the brush polished flats of the slide and nickel accents. The combination of the TRUGLO® Tritium Fiber Optic front sight and the rear SIGLITE® night sight provides excellent target acquisition, whether shooting day or night. To further enhance the low-light use, the Equinox™ comes equipped with an accessory rail. To complete the package, the Equinox™ features gray laminated wood grips with a perfect blend of checkering and stippling to enhance not only the form but the function.

zeeshan - not sure why shells are hitting you in the face. Is this a problem with one gun (maybe an extractor issue) or is this a problem with several guns? I assume you're not angling the gun sideways gangster style.

I own several Glocks, Sigs, HKs and many 1911s in both 10mm and 45. I've never experienced this issue.

To your original question regarding ejection port location on the HK - It is located top right - similar to just about every auto handgun. Shells should eject straight to your right. I have both HK USP and HK45 and have experienced no ejection issues.

To your original specs regarding the HK45c...

1. extremely reliable and very durable - YES

2. polygonal barreling and other any features for highest accuracy. - YES

3. ejection port to the right (not extended upwards). - You will not find any modern auto where the ejection port is not top and right with respect to bore axis.

4. decocker and manual safety(with safety on the pin should be blocked and not just the trigger). YES - frame decocker and manual thumb safety. On a side note - stay away from slide mounted decockers/safeties.

5. fast target acquisition sights ( eg 3 dots or glock type sights , and preferably night sights to glow in dark)- Yes - 3 dots standard. Night sights not yet available but this is an easy smith mod.

6. medium or just compact size for concealed carry( but in no way the compactness should compromise the reliability and durability factor. meaning, size factor can be compromised but not the reliability and long service life factor of the gun). YES - Size is compact and very concealable. Much thinner than the USP line.

7. smoothest and lightest trigger pull possible as in my experience trigger pull adds considerably to accuracy. Stock trigger pull is best of any HK I've shot but this is subjective.

8. light weight if possible (but not at the stake of any traits mentioned above). Not sure of the weight but as it is a polymer frame it certainly isnt heavy. About what you would expect from a Glock or Springfield XD.

I can’t speak for Radio Silence, but I have found slide mounted de-cockers such as on the S&W 4506 etc... to be much more difficult to use (and more so with small/medium hands) than the frame versions such as the Sig P220.

But hey, I’m a revolver guy. My .45 is a Smith 25 custom modified by Badger Sports in 1960.

Yes, it was a very expensive mis-adventure and not worth the money in the long run. Had I to do it over again, I probably would have bought a Springfield. Hindsight is 20/20.

BTW - The 7 yards was during a NRA Training Class. They wouldn’t let us shoot from a greater distance. I haven’t shot it since.

When clearing a malfunction the standard approach is to sweep your hand over the slide to both clear the jam and rack the slide to cycle the next round to get the gun back in action.

The danger with a slide mounted safety or decocker is that you could inadvertently flip the safety as you sweep your hand over the slide while racking.

At least this is what I’ve been taught. Seems to make sense.

I looked at colt’s site and they have the real thing for something like $1,250, made to the original plans.

Howdy and welcome to FR. I had the “case in the face” syndrome with an otherwise flawless 1911 and it turned out to be a failing extractor. Little piece chipped off one corner and it changed the case trajectory completely. (I changed it out for a Chip McCormick and it’s a sweet shooter once again). It might be worth a look - a new extractor is cheaper than a new firearm. Not that I’d want to discourage you from purchasing a new firearm... :-)

Walther P-5 with the ejection port on the left side? Is that a left-handed pistol?

What’s that monster chambered for? Or is it a prop gun?

Is this for close home or car use or for outside firing (range, street crime, etc.).

I just received my slide and sights back from the Taurus factory. When I shot my brand new stainless Taurus 1911 for the first time, the impact was eighteen inches high at 65 yards away. It still shot high at closer ranges. It took about three months for the factory to settle on the problem. Turn around took about three weeks and they replaced the rear sight. It’s dead on right now and I’m very pleased with the accuracy. It was hitting an inch at 20 feet away and sights were on target too.

The grip safety is still a little touchy. I have to take some metal off so I don’t have to squeeze so hard.

Also I want the fatter grips since I have large hands.

I’m very please with the pistol. I just wish they wouldn’t have written so much stuff on the side of the slide. I wanted to give it a high polish and I can’t without erasing some of the writing.
