need advice on handgun
Almost turned this one in myself, just because of the mis-spellings and other typos!
2nd vanity post, but both turned into pretty informative weapons info threads.
I really have no idea — I just did a Google image search for ‘big hand gun, and that is one of the pics that came up.
For turning a stock 1911 into a custom fighting 1911...
1) Slide to frame fit should be tightened...
In a gunfight, benchrest accuracy is not needed. Never fail reliability is.
Jeez, it’s chambered for 7.65x22. That must be brutal on the whole firing arm, not just the wrist.
Mine has been great out of the box - the only thing I don’t like about it is when I put it back together after cleaning getting the barrel bushing squared away is tough.
The only hard part about mine was getting it: the doofus gun dealer I dealt with initially said that it did not exist. Even printing a web page and taking it to him didn’t get it to sink in, so I got it elsewhere and have written the guy off forever.
I should have also added that what I look for in a tight slide to frame fit is the inability to move the slide vertically or horizontally by hand when the gun is in battery. However, the gun should still cycle with minimum effort. The gun should not be so tight as to require excessive effort just to rack the slide.
Also 9mm.
ping for later
It’s the first time I have ever needed the bushing wrench which was included with the pistol. I have a couple of them that I have never needed.
I had to check your location because I had the same problem. Two gunshop owners told me it didn’t exist and the magazine ads were just teasers when they finally go into production.
You were lucky about the sights. I was very disappointed but I am pleased with the turn around time. I was warned about that by some people.
I had trouble with a early Colt Combat Commander. It never worked with semiwadcutters. I finally sent it in after about ten years of playing with it for a reramp and throat job. It still didn’t work well. I didn’t know you have to change out the recoil springs every 10,000 rounds. That still didn’t fix it but I did notice some mags worked well.
I sent six Wilson magazines back to the factory. Three weeks later I open the box and there are only three in a zip lock bag. Under all the plastic were three brand new magazines still in the wrappers. The three in the ziplock had all new followers and springs.
The Commander is now flawless. I waited over ten years of playing with it to have it work this well.
Here's my favorite 45. Handles nice, concealable and has triple the power of 45ACP. (I handload)
Cons ... reload is a beast.
My Armscor has been trouble-free as well, after over 1,000 rounds of range ammo. The only thing that happened was the right side half of the ambidextrous safety came off. But it never did shoot to point of aim on the sights. I used to think it was my shooting, until I tried a well-used Kimber at the range and it hit the exact spot I was aiming at.
I’d just like to have it looked over and the sights adjusted, really. Don’t have the scratch for an expensive handgun right now.
for all of you have mentioned
i agree.in my stoeger cougar , it hurts my finger when i am cocking the gun because the safety/decocker is on the rail
This is what I use for close in home and car defense, The Taurus Judge.
This is what I use for open carry, The XD 40. I have the 45 barrel also that I can install and use the same clip. With this gun I have a 40 and a 45.
I find that both give me more flexibility for the different areas.
I use this. Works better.
nice ammo . can this be used in any .45 auto?
No. it is 45 long colt. It is also back ordered at all site right now. All the Judge owners are buying it up.
