WBZ Books Doofus to Host 4th of July Pops Concert
WBZ-TV Boston | 7/5/08

Posted on 07/05/2008 9:14:31 AM PDT by pabianice

Last night, WBZ-TV hosted the annual Boston Pops 4th of July Concert in Boston. Whether through sheer stupidity or through dislike of country, they chose as host a amazing doofus who had recently become a US citizen. His comments to the audience were astonishing:

"I'm an American citizen now so if you give me any crap, I can shoot you back."

"So here again is the good-looking and good-smelling Keith Lockhart."

There were more but I did not write them down.

WTF is wrong with one of the country's biggest TV stations (part of CBS, BTW) that they would chose such a host for the 4th? I have written to WBZ and have not yet received a reply.

Agreed, that guy was a doofus. Mom and I watched both the Boston Pops and the other one in Washington, DC with preference to the latter because she didn’t care for the Boston Pops this year and wonders, “where did they get that guy to host it?” His name is Ferguson, can’t remember his first name but he comes on after David Letterman on weeknights.

I opted out of the “multimedia spectacles” and chose instead to go to a smaller local fireworks display.

No music, no lasers, no ‘hosts’ - just fireworks.

Gives one time to think and contemplate the meaning of the 4th.

Ferguson is a self-professed comedian, been hearing him on the radio of late. He claims he doesn’t do comedy, instead he just speaks the “truth.”

Odd character.

I'll have to respectfully disagree with you FRiend. Although here in Texas I was disappointed that CBS chose to show an abbreviated version of the concert, I though Craig Ferguson did a good job and was a good choice. He has a history of being pro-US, is supportive of the troops (including being involved with Drew Carey’s USO tours), and to me he seemed absolutely giddy about celebrating his first 4th of July as an American.

I didn't watch the show on the 4th for the first time ever. After reading this, I'm not sorry I missed it.

I just remembered another one: “That was so good I think I wet myself.” Real class.

He's Craig Ferguson and he's actually quite funny. He was a riot at the recent White House Correspondents Dinner - click on link:

Fast Forward to the 54 minute mark
