NEED WORDS OF ENCOURAGEMENT
none | 7/3/08 | GrandmaC

Posted on 07/03/2008 7:09:36 AM PDT by GrandmaC

My Nephew-in-law is in his 3 tour in Iraq. He leads a squad of 22 soldiers who are not near any military base. Our family sends out monthly care packages to him and his men. Last week they lost 3 who were temporarily attached to them for a special mission. With all the bad press out there I would like to send in my next care package "words of praise and encouragement" for these guys. Can you take a minute and write a note to them. I will print out each note separately (that is appropriate) and include it in my care package this month.

Some words from a humble American:

Yes, we do know about the sacrifices you’ve seen, and made, and every one matters to us.

Please know without any doubt that you are fighting the good fight. It matters and it matters right now. You’re doing something important that will echo for decades to come. You are a part of history. And you’re fighting the right fight.

Please also know that there are a great many of us here at home that think about you every day. We may not know you, or know your name, but we sit back every day and wonder about you. We offer prayers, we cheer the good news, and we grieve the bad news right along with you.

I don’t know if I’ll ever be worthy of the sacrifices you’ve seen. All I can say is that I know what my debt is. Thank you for what you do.

And here’s to good hunting.[Sip]

:-).

Praying for the troops who have my utmost respect.

I wish I could adequately say how much respect I have for you.

Suffice it to say that, on the rare occasion someone slanders soldiers in my presence, they get chewed out, and they don’t do it again.

My heartfelt thanks and eternal gratitude is extended to each and every Service Member serving today. You are far from home in a distant land and wondering if your sacrifice is worthwhile. You wonder if people back home care.

Yes, we do. We care a great deal and can never thank you all enough for standing for us. We can never repay you the debt we owe you. We may not know your names, but you are forever in our hearts. We can only tell you, Thank You!

You are the real Greatest Generation and your time sacrificed will not be in vain.

I pray all of you a swift and safe return home to your families. America needs you and loves you.

We all owe a debt of gratitude to you, the warriors. To you, who have left the safety and comfort of home and family for the freedom and security of others. I understand, in your minds, you are only doing your duty, your job, what you were trained to do. We, at home praying for your safe return, see men and women who surpass, each and every day, a duty, a mere job, or those simply doing as they were trained. We see, the honor and bravery, heroism, self-sacrifice and dedication. We see, the heroes of a generation. We see the best trained, finest troops ever to come together in history. Of this there can be no doubt.

Thank you for your service.

TO MY HEROES
I pray for you and your families every day. I am so very proud of each and every one of you. Your unending courage and grace inspires us all. I long for the day that Iraq is a peaceful and safe country, because I will know then that you will be here with your loved ones. America is the home of the free, because of you, the brave.

“I wish I could adequately say how much respect I have for you.”

I know how you feel. I also can’t find the words to show our troops how much I respect them. No words seem adequate.

By the grace of God there will come the day when each of these young men will hold their grandchild on their knee, and talk of the day they risked all to save an entire nation of people who yearned to be free.

And when they return home, those of us here who are forever indebted - we who must forever endure the humility of living in the shadow of their great deeds - will look to these same young men to take the reigns of this nation, and do so much more with it than we.

May God richly bless each one of them.

To our amazing troops in the ME:

Thank you for what you do so very well. Today we celebrate YOU ALL, for without men and women like you, the world would know no freedom, no justice, no safety. So my flag is flying high today, and somewhere upon it, is stitched your name.

God bless each one of you. God bless America!

Here’s what I’d like to say to them:

Gentlemen...I’m a father of 7 children, 5 of them sons. My oldest child is now a Captain in the Army and did a 15-month tour in Iraq as a Stryker platoon leader. You guys know that Uncle Sugar doesn’t send Strykers into cushy areas; they were in hell-holes the entire time. He brought all of his guys back, nary a Purple Heart among them....nothing short of miraculous. Got a Bronze Star for that and more. I have two more sons going Army; one in Basic at Benning as we speak, another going Reserves and headed to Basic at the end of the month. Most of us in this family have served Uncle Sam in one way or another....but I wanted you to know that we have an understanding of what you do, what you face, and what your lives are like over there.

That said...hear this, and hear this well: We, the American people (screw the press...) love you guys, and you have our undying respect. You....stepped up. You....raised your right hands, swore to protect the Constitution of the United States (and the citizenry therein). You....said good-bye to loved ones to undergo rigorous training and long, dangerous deployments. As you have seen, some pay the ultimate price while defending this country, the Iraqis, and each other.

You are covered in more prayer than you can possibly imagine. I don’t care what faith you are...get over your inhibitions and pray for each other. Pray over each other. Constantly. My son credits prayer entirely for the miracle of returning his 40+ charges home to their families intact; the only platoon in his brigade to make such a claim. Prayer. God’s intervention.

You have it in spades...and don’t you dare ignore it or sniff at it or downplay it, ever. PRAY for each other as we here at home pray for you. Thank God every day for His blessings, for your buddies, for His protection, for His angels surrounding you and your mates.

We ignore the mainstream media; most here do. We know the good you are doing; we know of your courage and honor and commitment to the US, the Army....and each other.

God bless you, hold your heads high, and know that no one...no one...as long as you live, no matter what you do in life when you return home, can ever take away what you have done and are doing.

No one. Ever.

Be proud of yourselves. We sure as hell are. God bless you.

This Independence Day, I thank you for mine. If ever a nation needed heroes, the time is now - and you are those heroes.

For your service, your selflessness, and your sacrifice I thank you. May you be blessed with the peace you are fighting so hard to win, and may we all rejoice with you on your return home!
