Appleboxes, short co-cast members and some up angle photography 5’4” can look like 7 feet, 6’1” is a gimme.

Or make the the 6 foot, 1 inch tall John Rhys Davies appear 4 feet tall in the Lord Of The Rings trilogy...:)

"I heard Jessica Alba was doing Barbarella"

I would so like to see that!

Oh heavens, don’t let Hollywood within 10 light years of Vorkosigan! They’d make Miles six feet tall and give him a romantic limp. 10 to 1 they’d ditch Quinn, shack him up with Bel, and we’d be lucky if it was less than 90% action sequences.

(Sigh) I know. Once upon a time I thought Michael J. Fox would make a good Miles but after the hatchet job SCIFI made of Earthsea...ech. Some books are better left as books.

If you like Honor Harrington, you may want to try the Kris Longknife books by Mike Shepherd (aka Mike Moscoe). His earlier works aren't good but he gets better and better with Longknife. Kris (imho) is a very different character with her own baggage (literally) she has to drag through the Navy. It's not as hard in the military department but it's still great fun.

One of the things I notice in women is arms and shoulders; tells you whether whether a woman has ever really done anything with her body other than lived in it, and this one clearly hasn’t, Tarantino notwithstanding. The chick you’d really want for Red Sonya would be something like those old pictures of Katie Sandwina at 18 or 20, and there are a few of those out there.

Katie Sandwina?? That chick looks like a dude. Nope, I'll take Rose.

Katie

vs Rose

IMHO, no contest. Rose may not be as tone, but I doubt anyone would go to the theater to see Katie.

I bet Michael J Fox would have done a good Miles. And though I know it’s a bad idea, I secretly long to have a good film version of Paladin of Souls. Some things are just not meant to be, I guess.

I’ve been on an Elizabeth Moon kick lately, the Paksenarrion books first, and now I’m on the Vatta’s War series. Very enjoyable! I’ll have to look those Kris Longknife books up. I’m running out of new material :)

This is the biggest problem with Hollywood. No more originality.

Just what the world needs. More remakes. Red Sonja and Barbarella. The world needed another remake of King Kong too. And the Wild, Wild, West. And the Alamo. And Scooby Doo. And the Flinstones. And the Hulk. And superman. and spider man and on and on and on and on.

The only originality I see in Hollywood are in the animation factories.

So you won’t be going to see the remake of Ishtar starring Owen Wilson and Brad Pitt?

There is a whole career in just writing treatments and owning an option on some property until someone else wants to make a film about it.

And if you adapt a book to the screen, your name goes on the script even if someone else later adapts the same film and throws out your adaptation (it has to do with using character names from the book).

Dune took ~15 years to get made, Vampire Lestat ~20, I Am Legend ~40 (although there were inspired near adaptations over the years)...

It used to be called the casting couch and sexual harassment.

Don’t you just love the new Hollywood?

I love sword-and-sandal movies. I’m OK with this, but they’d better not mess with the Conan franchise or Barbarian Queen.

That’s not a picture of Katie Sandwina; I’ll try to find one and post it. You’d be talking about a photo from around 1896 or thereabouts.

“That’s the cinematographer’s job. And they’re good at it. Most of Hollywood is pretty short, but how many times in a movie or preview have you ever seen anyone look taller than Tom Cruise? Appleboxes, short co-cast members and some up angle photography 5’4” can look like 7 feet, 6’1” is a gimmie.”

Stallone is a runt, too.

They're making a Good Times movie? I can't even stand to watch that for free on tv--LOL!

An A-Team movie might be good. But Smurfs? And Footloose!?

And Footloose!?

That one really gets me. That movie is so 80's I can't see how they can remake it.

The A-Team movie could be funny if Ben Stiller were making it. LOL
