Summer Sun
by Robert Louis Stevenson
Great is the sun, and wide he goes
Through empty heaven with repose;
And in the blue and glowing days
More thick than rain he showers his rays.
Though closer still the blinds we pull
To keep the shady parlour cool,
Yet he will find a chink or two
To slip his golden fingers through.
The dusty attic spider-clad
He, through the keyhole, maketh glad;
And through the broken edge of tiles
Into the laddered hay-loft smiles.
Meantime his golden face around
He bares to all the garden ground,
And sheds a warm and glittering look
Among the ivy's inmost nook.
Above the hills, along the blue,
Round the bright air with footing true,
To please the child, to paint the rose,
The gardener of the World, he goes.

Hey Noobie .... Friday will be 10 years so I guess we can dispense with the Noobie label then. :)

Joyful Living
Command those who are rich in this present age not to be haughty, nor to trust in uncertain riches but in the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy. 1 Timothy 6:17
Our search for joy takes us many different directionsdream holidays, shopping, food, clothes, friends, carsthe list is almost endless.
My guess is that if you perked up at the mention of shopping, holidays, or cars, you might have felt a twinge of guilt. We often view the joy of temporal things as less than spiritual and show our discomfort by apologizing for nice things: I wouldnt have bought this, but someone gave me a wonderful deal. As if real Christians never eat quiche, drive cool cars, or wear designer clothes!
No doubt Gods greatest gift to us is our relationship with His Son Jesus. Its a gift beyond comparison. Jesus promised that when we abide in Him we will experience the fulfillment of His joy (John 15:11), and without that kind of deep, abiding joy the rest of life is mundane at best.
But Scripture also casts the joy of the Lord in terms of temporal things. The enjoyment of things can be a positive spiritual experience. When we recognize that He gives us richly all things to enjoy (1 Tim. 6:17) and that every good gift . . . is from above (James 1:17), our hearts should be full of thankfulness and praise. This, in and of itself, is an act of worship! Enjoy the Giver and the gifts.
We thank Thee, Lord, for daily food,
For plenteous store of earthly good;
For life and health we still possess,
With house and home so richly blessed. Mohler

Beautiful wild marigolds, Meg! Had all kinds of computer troubles yesterday. Will have to get it worked on again. Yesterday I couldn't even post a picture, couldn't connect to YouTube or any link posted. Made delicious soup for my neighbor!

Good morning... Caught me just before I left for the day.
It’s beautiful today, no rain in sight and in the 70’s.
