RIP, General Hammond. BTW, he, Don Davis, also acted in a MacGuyver episode with Richard Dean Anderson, IIRC, he was a truck driver.

This is very sad. As General Hammond he projected authority and humanity, playing well against O'Neill’s rebelliousness, Jackson's nerdiness, and Samantha's earnestness. I think that the loss of his centering presence is what weakened the series.

He portrayed military roles with believability, and was a very valuable contributor to the success of Stargate SG-1. He’ll be missed...

Don Davis had been an officer in the US Army. So he played Hammond as a real officer not as a stereotype.
