You could plot it on an X/Y graph and get a hyperbola.
As the technology inherent in an object increases, its useful lifespan decreases. Probably the relationship is inversely exponential, like y=1/(x^n).

Or you could plot the Algore and get a hyperbole.

But I never knew buggywhips were so hi-tech.
