I was trying to squeeze some information out of NicknamedSue tonight about her thoughts if people could control their physical bodies as easily as their wardrobes.

She wouldn't play. Anybody here want to?

Here's the idea: In the future, about two hundred years, you have internal control over how your body operates and appears like the changes that have occurred in automobile interiors in the last hundred years.

Hair, skin, stature, musculature ... the whole gamut. Given the choice, what would you choose?

(D.C., if you say Ben Grimm, I'm going to call foul.)

Okay... I want reclining seats. And get rid of the gasairbags. *\;-)

And with that I am off for the night.

Given the choice, what would you choose?

A knee that worked the way it was suppose to.

How much would I change before I was not me any more? Our physical shell shapes our spirit more then we care to understand. Being shorter or taller changes your perspective and so changes you at a fundamental level. Being blond or a redhead changes other peoples perspective and so changes the way you relate to them.

I am happy as me. Do I really want to risk changing that?

On the other hand if you could build in a flame thrower into my arm so I could get through my paperwork really fast I might risk it.

"I am happy as me. Do I really want to risk changing that?"

Exactly. My central character doesn't want to accept change.

This story has been written before. It was called "Peter Pan".

He didn't want to grow up. But what if you could pick an age, (or return to it)? Which age would be best?

That too has been asked and answered numerous times. But we all still come up with different answers.

One truth is that we fit the age we live in best at different ages in our lives. We are more accepting as children, more understanding as adults, and more tolerant as older folks.

As a child, I wanted to embrace the world, and I did.

As an adult, I wanted to understand the world, and I thought I did.

As an older fellow, I'm ready to go back to wanting to embrace the world.

I want straight hair. And I’d like to be able to shift things around (as it were) so as to fit whatever clothes I want to wear.

My boys would love the bobcat exhibit, especially if they got to interact with the residents :-).

Slash is doing okay this morning. He was running around chasing crickets using both rear feet.

"I’d like to be able to shift things around (as it were) so as to fit whatever clothes I want to wear."

The story is told of a man who stops at the tailor's to pick up a new suit for a special occasion. There is a problem; one side of the suit has been made to slightly different dimensions. The man is upset.

The tailor is a man of experience. He mollifies the customer by telling him that all he has to is hunch one shoulder a bit, and keep his weight favoring one leg.

The man has no time left for any other alternative. He leaves the store practicing the odd posture and gait.

Two women observe him hobbling out onto the street. One whispers to the other: "Oh, that poor man! He must have been injured in the war."

"Yes, I see that," comes the response, "but isn't he nicely dressed?"

That was deep. I’d like to make my shoulders a little smaller for one dress, and my waist a little smaller for another ...

Now I’m going to run.

OK: Next query in the continuing saga of the Recalcitant CPU.

Do different computer manufacturers use specific model number? Such as Compaq CPU would start with 5 or Dell would start with 0?

So far all we’ve been able to find on the CPU is the model number.

On the outside of the computer case? Yes, each manufacturer has it’s own part number and serial number schema.

GREAT! This one is 50052. So would you know which manufacturer it’s from? If not, how would I search online for it?

Is that the Part Number? Or the Serial Number?

No Model numbers are most likely a product of marketing and thus have no rational thought behind them for technical purposes. Compaq OS disk were closely matched and would not run on other models of Compaqs if they weren’t in the same model group. If the maker is not clearly marked it could be a clone. You can find info on the OS build at “Right click” My computer and select properties. This will tell what was used to build the system.

He says it’s the model number.
I haven’t been over there to check it myself, but he says there are no numbers on the case at all, including the back panel, except for that one. That number was found on the side, down at the bottom.
