Kos’s Obama Birth Certificate Fake? [Hawaii Says It Did not Use "African" on Certs]
MacRanger Radio Show ^ | 6/12/08 | MacRanger

Kos is gloating over producing Barack Obama’s birth certificate.  First, generally vital statistical records are not available to anyone except the subject of the record unless they have signed a release (I’m checking Hawaii’s laws).   Perhaps the “Light Being” gave him a copy, who knows.  But the interesting thing about this certificate is the description for race on Obama’s father, it lists him as “African”.   In 1961 all Live Birth certificates contained the word “Black”, which is a race, not African.

Not that it can’t be real, and I really don’t care, but hey, this is “Screw ‘em” Kos.   Take a look.

Per lgf:

“This is NOT a birth certificate, it’s a “certification of live birth” — a slightly different thing.

And yes, the campaign did give it to Moulitsas for posting; he says so in the comments.”

But I checked with the vital statistics registrar in Hawaii and the “African” nomenclature is incorrect.  In 1961 it would have been “black” or even, “negro”.

Other abnormalities noted by Suitability Flip.

Based on this, as far as I’m concerned the jury’s still out.

I have said all along that I suspected the reason for Obama's unwillingness to release the original is that it would reveal him to be an illegitimate child. I just found this:

The U.S. Standard Certificate of Live Birth in 1961 included a field labeled "Legitimate" (since replaced with the less pejorative "Mother married"). If this field were indeed the troublesome one (i.e. if his parents were never married and Obama knew it), it wouldn't be a particularly big deal in its own right, but it would suggest that Obama has lied about this element of his family history throughout his public life. Understandable, perhaps, but still a deliberate and repeated deceit to ask the American public to overlook, particularly for a candidate who has fashioned his unique biographical and genealogical background into a central theme of his public persona and thus his candidacy, ever since the publication of his first book.

I still think this is the most likely explanation, but knowing these RATS, it could be something worse.

Kos probably created it. Even on Kos there was speculation it was a fake.

Wrong. All 1961 birth certificates would NOT have used the word “black” in that situation. They would have said Negro. Having studied more than a few census and other government records, I can assure you that are not always consistent. It often depends on what term that the attending doctor or nurse who filled it out wants to use. The folks who keep pushing this should either drop this silly crusade or, at the very least, get their facts right.

FWIW, I read somewhere that Kos claims to have received it from the Bambi campaign.

Kos might be a little more honest than Bambi, but that ain’t sayin’ much.

“This isn’t the birth certificate that I knew.”

"But I can no more dismiss this birth certificate than my Congressional record."

Oh well. If there is a problem with the birth certificate, will simply CHANGE it.

How did they obtain the file from Hawaii unfolded?

He is reporting what the Hawaii registrar told him. That person said the terminology for the father’s race would have been black or negro—but not African.

I don’t get how that is inconsistent with your position.

Beats me. Blogger Texas Darlin' called them and was told that the cert is NEVER transmitted electronically. Only mailed.

Absolutely. And in Obama's case they certainly would also have included the term "magic".
