Kos is gloating over producing Barack Obamas birth certificate. First, generally vital statistical records are not available to anyone except the subject of the record unless they have signed a release (Im checking Hawaiis laws). Perhaps the Light Being gave him a copy, who knows. But the interesting thing about this certificate is the description for race on Obamas father, it lists him as African. In 1961 all Live Birth certificates contained the word Black, which is a race, not African.
Not that it cant be real, and I really dont care, but hey, this is Screw em Kos. Take a look.
Per lgf:
This is NOT a birth certificate, its a certification of live birth a slightly different thing.
And yes, the campaign did give it to Moulitsas for posting; he says so in the comments.
But I checked with the vital statistics registrar in Hawaii and the African nomenclature is incorrect. In 1961 it would have been black or even, negro.
Other abnormalities noted by Suitability Flip.
Based on this, as far as Im concerned the jurys still out.
I believe the FBI would have done some type of Background Investigation prior to him becoming a US Senator. There has to be a file on him at the Bureau containing a National Agency Check (NAC) which would have confirmed whether or not he was a US citizen.
If this in a fact a fake....and Oh!bama is not legit...then we have a very “series” problem at the top.
My observation of the “certificate” is that as someone else pointed out - it is unfolded (virtually never happens), and something I found interesting - note that the black bar that blots out the certificate number is precisely the same height as the black bars in the top and bottom margin. It’s almost as if someone using photoshop used the same black box to create all three...
“There has to be a file on him at the Bureau containing a National Agency Check (NAC) which would have confirmed whether or not he was a US citizen.”

Natural-born citizenship is not a qualification for Senator.
It is, for President...
Would theat check, have confirmed one or the other, or simply established citizenship at the time?
ROTFLOL
It's fake, but accurate (if incomplete).
I'm surprised, growing up in that era, I don't remember it that way, it seems that black didn't come in until 5 years later or so, maybe even "colored" was more current at the time>
That is peculiar.
And although in 1961, the race of his father might have been "Negro," a certificate issued now would likely be more PC and use "African." So this is not a 46-yr-old document, but perhaps one issued recently and based on the old original.
It'd be easier to figure out if not for that blackout of the number!
Bingo
“But I checked with the vital statistics registrar in Hawaii and the African nomenclature is incorrect. In 1961 it would have been black or even, negro.”
I think in our screwball PC world it is possible that a “Certificate of Live Birth” issued in the last few years would be printed with “African American” instead of black or negro.
As Obama SR was a Kenyan national and not an American this was shortened to African.
Same exact starin as Larry Sinclair, I reckon

starin = strain. ooops
If he turns out to be a non-citizen, this will be a good test to see if the Constitution has any meaning to the voters of the US. (Other then that vague remembrance of being forced to memorize the preamble back in 9th grade social studies class!)
Weren't they Afro Americans for a while before that?
Sure would be nice if we were all known as Americans first.
African is not a nationality, South African would be. African encompasses Casablanca to Capetown. Remember, Teresa was the going to be the first African first lady.
Today, everything is computerized -- digitized even.
You can see the information that the government collects on live births on this PDF.
Before all this, responses weren't always so standardized.
See the sample birth certificate for Patricia DeCosta (born 1930) that was posted the other day.
Mother's Race: Caucasian Hawaiian
Father's Race: White
Apparently the clerks weren't as exacting then as they could have been.
If somebody wants to persue this further: the official information hospitals collected for the Bureau of Health wasn't always the same as the information the local Registrar got.
Presumably the statistics for the state or territorial public health authorities were more exacting than those came from the parents and appear on the birth certificate. So you could check that out.
Maybe not. Found this on another site:

According to the state laws in Hawaii that were in effect at the time of Obamas birth, a child must be born to TWO U.S. Citizen parents (this law was in effect from December 24, 1952 to November 13, 1986, which means it applies to Barack’s birth.
But only Barack’s mom was a U.S. Citizen. Papa Obama was a citizen of Kenya. Well, the Hawaiian law stiplulates that:
If only one parent was a U.S. Citizen at the time of your birth, that parent must have resided in the United States for at least ten years, at least FIVE of which had to be after the age of 16.
It appears that Obamas mother was only 18 when Obama was born, which means she was shy of the 21 years of age required by the law. In other words, she was not old enough to qualify her son for automatic U.S. Citizenship. At what point was Barack Obama Jr., son of Barack Obama Sr., recognized by the U.S. Government as an American citizen?
