What kind of music does your band play? - a love for the Ramones and the Captain gives you impeccable taste credentials. Have you noticed how so many of the images in Beefheart’s songs are of pastoral rural America, animals, birds etc...quite at odds with most contemporary music which tends to be urban. I got to playing ‘Unconditionally Guaranteed’ the other day. Gimmie Dat Harp Boy is blistering and the whole disc much better than most people give it credit for.

My current band plays a mix of 50s & 60s music - rockabilly, garage and surf, with some Cramps covers thrown in. My old band was alternative/punk, all originals. We put out 3 CDs and 5 45s and almost got signed twice, but alas it twas not to be. High (or low) point of my career - jamming with David Peel onstage at CBGB.
Unconditionally Guaranteed is one Beefheart LP I don't have. I was corrupted at an early age by the local hippie station playing the grooves out of Clear Spot. "And the pantalooned duck, white goose-necked quaked: Webcor, Webcor"
