I'm putting together a CD to give to each of my children as they were growing up from birth to the end of their teenage years. I've chosen the song, "You're Gonna Miss This", by Trace Adkins. I have the song saved in Real Player but when I try to add the song with the pictures it will not play.
Not trying to be snide, but if you have access to a Mac this would be much better, it’s pretty much made for this kind of stuff. You’d still need to get the song out of RealPlayer, get it mp3.
With the Mac comes free - iPhoto, to select your pics, edit, crop, enhance, and organize; iMovie to add the soundtracks and arrange the photos with zooms, pans, etc.; and iDVD to burn the whole thing with neat formating as a DVD movie.
I had something called, plain old ‘Nero’, nothing about photos that I can recall, but I got rid of it over a year ago. I didn’t know what it was for. Un-oh.
“You’re Gonna Miss This” is available from iTunes ($1) and likely elsewhere. I’d redownload it first...
I used to could watch youtube videos on my computer. After I upgraded a newer version of firefox, I could no longer watch them. Anyhow, When the YT would play there was a pop-up that would let me download the video into real player, that’s what I did. I figured it was a way to save on bandwidth.(hughesnet)
I don’t have itunes on my computer, I’ll have to download the site before I can buy it....right?
I’ll have to wait until this comp explodes before I could ask hubby for a new one. lol
Stick with widely known, widely understood formats, like *.WAV [frankly, I wouldn’t do anything with music unless it was *.WAV].
Yes, you’d need to download and install iTunes:

Set up an account, etc. I have friends on PCs who like using it and it works well with their iPod. You may want to consider it. However, for just one song, quick, I’d recommend you get it elsewhere.
If you have an Amazon account, you can get it here:

What's an MP3?
MP3 is a file format that should work with any of the programs.
It’s not as high a quality as WAV. You could get a WAV file if you have the music CD and proper software.
I believe you won’t notice, and the MP3 will work fine for you.
Will the song download directly on my computer?
Thank you for the explanation.
There’s a link on Amazon that says....”Install the MP3 Downloader” do I click on that link?

This link will take you to a description of Nero PhotoShow 5.0. I would recommend purchasing the basic system ($40) and you can purchase a few of their “themes” (I think the free download system is just too basic and you’ll want to replace it with the upgrades right away). The nice thing is that you get instant slide-show capability and then can link in the music (MP3 format) audio clips that you want. You get nice results very quickly and then can create DVDs for friends and family to watch on TV.
I’ve tried others but Nero is the best I’ve run across. JMHO.
Thank you. When hubby gets home I’ll ask him if I can get it. He always lets me get what I want(when we can afford it) but I still ask him if it’s ok first. $40.00 sounds good to me. :)
Arcsoft Video Impression will do what you want, you probably just need a clean MP3 from Amazon.
I do slide-shows for people all the time in Adobe Premiere Pro but that’s out of the question. How big are all the pictures?
Here’s an example of one I did...my video links and friends have some others.

If you can convert your music files to MP3 (as suggested by some on this thread), then you can import those files for use as background in Nero PhotoShows. I find the selection of music is one of the most important aspects of an effective photo show, especially personalized ones like what you’re talking about. I’ve done 15 minute slide shows with up to 5 MP3s strung together that effectively shifts the mood of the slide show very effectively. Enjoy. This is one of the many tasks that could never have been done without the power of the computer. Let me know if you need some tutoring getting through your first slide show. After that, you’ll be a pro!

Real is not a very well supported format among editors. Try exporting from Real as WAV so you don’t lose quality, then use that. If Real won’t export, there are conversion utilities, you can Google.
