I downloaded one of the trial versions of Version 3.0 about a month ago at work. I liked it and found it didn’t crash as much as 2.0 was so I downloaded it at home about 2 weeks later. The version I got at home is slightly different and better. Lots of great features and a lot of my extensions have been updated, although not all.
I will wait for the full new version, delete the current version and try again.

It hasn't been released yet, but today is supposed to be the day.

shortcuts to sites I visit with Firefox
The bookmarks capabilities of Firefox work well. I just drag and drop the little icon for the web site I'm on, that's just to the left of the URL for the site showing at the top of the Firefox window, to the row of bookmarks on the next row.
I'm sure there are several tutorials on the web on how to do this. I just did a Google search for "firefox bookmark tutorial" and the following tutorial showed up first: Firefox Help - Tutorials: Bookmarks.

how to create shortcuts to sites I visit with Firefox???
You are wanting to put the site shortcuts on your desktop?
Click and hold on the webpage icon image (extreme left in the address bar or webpage tab) and drag the icon to the desktop.

If I download the newer version, will it mess up my pretty, current version? I have nice, shiny, blue buttons and a little red thatched cottage for the “home” icon. That’s important, you know.

Probably it will mess it up.
It depends on the extensions/themes you have and whether those have been updated for 3.0.
Several of the extensions I use have NOT been updated. I hope they do update them, as some of them are 'necessary'. I would stay with 2.0, if I can't use those favorite extentions.

You're quite welcome.
I'm a serious bookmark user myself, across several computers at once, both Linux and Windows (and maybe a Mac some day in the future.) I keep my bookmarks synchronized across all my computers with the Firefox Add-on Foxmarks. I heartily endorse Foxmarks for synchronizing Firefox bookmarks across multiple computers.
My other two most essential Firefox Add-ons, on a list of about 15 of them on this computer right now are:
- PasswordMaker for higher quality passwords, with a different password for each site and
- Tax Mix Plus, for enhanced Firefox's tab browsing capabilities.
Hmmm ... the Mozilla Firefox website slowed down rather noticeably as I was composing this message. It is now 1:10 pm, EST, 10 minutes after their scheduled release of Firefox 3.0. I'll wager that the Mozilla website admins are not taking the day off today. ;).

All of the extensions I use already have versions compatible with 3, but these development tree versions had to be obtained from the web sites of the authors (as of last week). In fact, add-on availability is one of the things that paced 3’s release.

The thing that bothers me about any kind of service that keeps a copy of your bookmarks remotely is privacy.
Say Obamaniacs want to single out pro-lifers for harassment. My bookmarks would be a happy hunting ground. Speaking of hunting grounds, they’d find a few pro-gun sites in my bookmarks as well.
Maybe the remote backup is optional with Foxmarks; I don’t know.

Sounds like that would be helpful between college and home . . . though I don’t know that I want the college aware of ALL my Conservative bookmarks! Sigh.

Seeing the title, I'm reminded how much rubbish Clint Eastwood produced, directed, or acted in.
As well as High Plains Drifter, Dirty Harry, and Play Misty for me, we have such duds as...
Firefox
White Hunter Black Heart
Pink Cadilac
Honkytonk Man
Bronco Billy
Pale Rider
The Every/Any which way movies.
A perfect World
Escape from Alcatraz
Tightrope
Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil
The Gauntlet
City Heat

Off topic, but Josey Wales is a classic movie. Josey’s one-liners and facial expressions are unbeatable.

I am used to the tabs being at the bottom with Tab Mix Plus. I've been using FF3 since yesterday when I found a copy of Release Candidate3. I also found a copy of Tab Mix Plus that works with FF3.
You can download it Here from the author's site.
The file is at the bottom and is called "tab_mix_plus-0.3.6.1.080416.xpi".
