Even before SP1 was released I have been getting a "windows can not check for updates" message and thus can not get the updates and when I tried to download SP1 hoping it would fix that, SP1 won't download.

Any ideas?

Vista Service Pack 1 release

Either a copy of Windows XP or a coupon for a 24" iMac.

The only thing that comes to mind, is perhaps there is something wrong with your Vista activation key. And that you’s have to call MSs Activation number to check out.

Someone didn’t by any chance load your OS on another PC did they?

You are able to download files from other sites without problems? Your Security program isn’t set up to block the site? Are you behind a ccompany firewall?

Read this, http://support.microsoft.com/kb/934538/en-us see if that helps you with your problem. I would recommend trying to reproduce one of the other symptoms before doing the repair.
