I’m home from my trip to Texas. I didn’t realize that Austin was green and had rolling hills. Still hot and humid, but very beautiful. I was able to come home a few days early, and of course, caught a chest cold on the way home. So I was out sick Tuesday. But now I am back at work.
For my next business trip, it is a little closer to home. Park City to be exact, about an hour away. It’s a pretty fun place to visit, and I can sleep in my own bed at night.
Thank you for your expressions of concern.
The Iowa City Press Citizen has posted an article on their website warning that Internet service in Eastern Iowa will most likely be lost soon. At first I thought it was just for those who use Quest as an ISP, but apparently Quest hosts stuff for other ISPs.
So I will most likely be absent. For quite a while. The Iowa River currently pouring onto the streets of Iowa City is not expected to crest until June 20. And then there’s the matter of waiting for the flood water to receed and then dry out.
It could be august before I return.
I have someone trying to poach people on my team. :( I was out Monday and Tuesday, and she asked very leading questions about what they were doing. She actually told one QA that if she was doing what he was doing (research and automation), that she would be bored. And then she offered to lend him to another team. Grrrrr. I found out about this today. I am not a happy camper. I am waiting until tomorrow to send a note to her temporary boss. If she has that kind of time to wander around and find work for others, I have a stack of work for her. And so do those 2 guys on my team. /rant is over
Austin is a beautiful city and like some elderly citizens, spreading. Quite a few Californians have moved in so Austin is pretty liberal. When we returned from Germany, we could zip through from one side of Austin to the other side in just a few minutes, NOW the traffic is so congested it takes forever. I still enjoy it though. It is a beautiful city and some of the old homes gorgeous.
