Yes, Iowa City (Coralville Resevoir and the Iowa River) is under seige this morning. They are saying the Iowa will crest as much as 3 ft above the record levels of 93.

My district is directly downstream. We expect major problems by tonite.

Tell Mr pb they are going to close about 250 miles of the Mississippi, due to high water, and that a runaway barge hit the Julian Dubuque bridge last night.

I’m a bit tired myself. But then, again, my day started about 0330.

‘93 was the year of all that horrific flooding along the Mississippi, wasn’t it?

I really hope that it doesn’t get that bad.

kassie, I’m glad to read you are up and posting after the surgery. Follow doctor’s orders (I know you are) and you’ll be fine.

Cholycystectomy (GB removal) used to involve a 5-6 inch incision, a drain, twice daily dressing changes and a week in the hospital before one was released to recuperate and heal at home for the rest of the month.

I tried to google an image for a scultetus binder, a multi-tailed wrapping that we applied to post-surgical gall bladder patients, but wasn’t able to find exactly what I was looking to post. It extended from hips to breast line and offered support for the incision and abdominal area, which the patients almost always appreciated.

I haven’t seen that contraption for years and years, there’s probably little to no use for them anymore. I’m showing my age to remember using such an item.

Thank goodness endoscopic surgery has made that whole procedure a LOT less invasive and much easier to recover from.

Hey... I've had my gall bladder out as well.

We should start a club!

Get well soon.

Yes, that’s correct. We were headed to Centerville IA now that I remember. One road we went down had washed out and we had to turn the RV around and find another route. We made it though.

Thanks!

One of the things I love to do is take a walk up to the fort early in the morning and watch the sun come up over Lake Huron. I will usually do some sketching and or some writing in the journal as well.

Although it is hard to find a cup of coffee at that hour.

I have four small slits. The three under my ribs are not painful at all. In fact, I have forgotten they are there. The one in my mid-section is the largest probably 1 inch to 1 1/2 inch long and it is painful. But I am only taking Tylenol Extra Strength so I feel pretty good.

Yes, 93 was the year of the previous big, widespread, flood. There have been several isolated incidents since 93, but nothing as widespread, until now.

I’m in that club!

Your slits sound like mine. If, in about 10 days to 2 weeks, your larger incision appears to have an infection coming up from the inside, it could probably a wee portion of the suture working its way out. Sutures are usually absorbed but sometimes not.

It’s good to see you back, and I hope you have a quick and uneventful recovery. (another words,,, BE GOOD)

It’s always so tempting to “over do” when we start feeling better. Been there. Done that. Paid the Price.

Frasier re-runs are on the Lifetime Channel. Central Time they run at 9:00 AM and are repeated at 9, or 10 PM (I think).

Read before posting. I see that Mosie says that the evening schedule is 11 pm Central for Frasier. But it is 9 AM for the morning schedule. They run 2 episodes back to back. — 9-10 for those who are home. Always amusing.
