While I agree I cannot prove it and the entire Ellie May Clampet syndrome is only on TV; I have a 6 year old daughter that I do believe has some special ability to communicate with animals. She talks to the cat and tells us what he thinks or wants. You are welcome to call me on living in SF and in California with the fruits and nuts, but I see this regularly and cannot explain it and yet absolutely believe it.

I read somewhere that an adult dog possesses the mind of an 18 month old.
If that is true, they would understand a large number of words.

"I have a 6 year old daughter that I do believe has some special ability to communicate with animals." I have an 11 year-old niece. On two occasions (of which I'm aware) wild songbirds have freely flown up to her...I saw one that landed on her shoulder and the other, she simply held out her hand and it perched on her index finger.
I would nothave believed it if I hadn't seen it, and my brother and sister-in-law managed to get photos of the second incident. These were NOT escaped domestic birds, nor did they appear to be disoriented or diseased. She's also seems to be very empathic and completely unafraid around large dogs, even ones she's never met before. It's really unlike anything I've ever seen.
